Looking for a graphics card to put in a HTPC alongside an e5200 for SD and HD playback.

Which graphics card offers the best upscaling images from SD to HD?

I have been looking at the passive 4670, however I am unsure whether Nvidia offers better upscaling software etc?

Thanks.

Nvidia as it supports 1:1 pixel mapping out the box with no fiddling round.

Upscaling you can use FFDShow to upscale XviDs etc anyway so no need to worry about that. Pretty sure Nvidia has hardware upscaling anyway though.

Flip a coin.

It's all in the software for the best SD scaling, gpu is largely irrelevant - for HD Nvidia has DXVA support through the CoreAVC codec if you use that but i use the free MPC-HC decoder with my 4850 for DXVA and it's faultless and arguably better than Core anyway.

Anything recent which can pass 8 channel LPCM over HDMI wins me over.

I have tried both in my media center, but I couldnt really see any difference, so I just went with the onboard HD3200 to save power, reduce the heat and used the 9500GT on something else.
