Hi guys, just thought I'd leave you a thread to tell you how im getting on at basic training for the navy at hms Raleigh.

It's hard lol. Wake up at 5:15am and go bed at 22:30 - doing stuff non stop all day, kills ya!

I'm just about to start my 3rd week here and everything so far is going smoothly. Rifle training next week so that should be good!

If anyone wants to know anything about hms Raleigh or anyone wants to ask me questions I'll be more than happy to help, I had loads of things on my mind before i came here and wish I had someone who could answer then for me!

Pointless post but I miss you guys :) x
 
5:15 till 22:30? Wow you guys got it easy... we had 5:00 till sometimes 2:00 :eek:


Hehe only teasing you! Seems like your having fun, you will love rifle week, its weird to fire one for the first time but then you seem to get a thirst for firing live ammo :eek:

How long is your training? what trade are you going to be?
 
I've been there to do a navy powerboat course and I'm probably going there again this summer to do a leadership course. It's a huge place
 
I just wonder how much it's changed in the thirty years since I did my basic training there?

Have you tested your gas mask yet?;)

My mate just had his passing out ceremony there last thursday, they must have quite a quick turn around! he seemed to like it.. 9 weeks right? good luck!
 
I believe that it is what is termed as .... 'a stone friggate' as are all shore establishments of the RN.
 
hah, turn your brain off and keep it up. Dartmoor should be great when you go, I was there with one of the SAR squadrons a few months ago and it was redders.

What division are you in?
My mate just passed out 2 weeks ago

Where are you getting access to the internet from?

What division are you in? I was in Collingwood when I did mine in 1993.
 
theres internet rooms in britannia block & i think the other is in pellew.
They are basic suites, 2mb connections each or something, its a shocking setup that the civvis are meant to be changing.

Just count your lucky stars you did'nt join the army then xD,
