Using a 2x 3.5mm Jack for Headphones and Speakers?!?

Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a 2x 3.5mm Jack so I can have my headphones and speakers plugged in at same time.

However, how do I alternate between the two? For example, if I just want to use the headphones, do they automatically work when the speakers is plugged out or are they both producing sound at same time? :confused:
