Time for a new car!

Would you prefer to spend the money on the 500 or do you think its better to buy something a bit older for half the money??
I don't really want to go older than 06 or higher than 50000 miles.

depends really how much you like the 500

Its a very individual car, and if you've fallen in love with its styling then nothing else is really going to fill the same void.

If you just want a good small car and arent particularly bothered by its quirky styling, then its definately overpriced for what it is.

I'm tiny so no need to worry about being tall!

And fluffy dice annoy me...!

Hah... all the girls I know seem to have a fetish for pink steering wheel covers and other random assorted garish tat :p My sister has a Puma and her mates bought her random stuff for the car, thankfully she just binned it as I'd have felt like dying if I'd ever been seen in amongst it all!

Oh, and are you azab? Because there are NO girls on the internets. FACT. :D

For the price I would say it isn't the best car.

Looking on pistonheads, the only ones going for close to 5k are the 1960-70 versions, lol.

If you like the idea of a small italian car with character, why not save a few quid and get a Fiat Panda. One meeting your age and mileage requirements should be easily obtainable. 100hp model is very nice.

May be the first time i have ever recommended a new car, but i seem to be constantly seeing Panda £4995 adverts if you take advantage of the car scrappage scheme. £5k to swap to a new motor which by all accounts is actually a perfectly good car? Seems good value to me, not my cup of tea but certainly seems like a viable option in this case.

I don't know who/what azab is but I'm certainly a girl....so it's not a FACT!
:D

Haha!

I can assure you though that thats not me...if thats what you're thinking!

What's so strange about a girl being on the internet?

Well I've test driven some shocking Kia's so they are out, I tested a Grande Punto a while ago and liked it at the time. I then however found the 500 and fell in love so kind of forgot about the Grande so I think I might go back and have another go in that.
Yaris' seem expensive but I like them so I might give that a go and I'm interested in the old Fiesta and the Mini.
So I guess I have a lot of work to do!!

I think Jez has a point here. And I am the LAST person to advocate buying a new car.

But IIRC Fiat have only said they are doing the £2k off the eco-derv Panda which surly is a fail-wagon?

Fiat
Fiat will take part in the scheme and has already announced that it will be matching the Government’s £1,000 on its Panda Active Eco with £1,100. Customers can pay a no deposit four year finance deal at 6.5% APR to pay for it.

I thought they had to either be in or out, and couldnt pick and choose which models to apply it to?

Went and had a look at some cars today, the car salesmen were nasty!

I've had a look round now at pretty much everything and this is the list I've got:

Fiat 500
Fiat Grande Punto
Nissan Micra
Ford Fiesta (old shape)
Vauxhall Corsa

Any opinions/views? Think I'm gonna settle for my £5k budget as I can afford that and then I can get my dream car (VW Beetle) in a few years time!
