New phoneany good deals?

Hi,

My current o2 contract has run out and I have decided to cancel it, I've been with o2 for over 3years now and I must say they have been pretty shocking for keeping customers or me

Anyway I'm currently phoneless and contractless..

I've no idea what are good phones now, but Im looking for a good phone and a good deal i.e.

A phone that will be good for internet.. maybe wifi? not iphone though because i have an ipod and i won't use the phone for music..

I just went to o2 retentions and mentioned the sort of deals mobiles.co.uk were offering on O2.

I was paying £25+vat before for 400mins 1k texts and 4mb data with the n95. I told them that i wanted a nokia 5800 ( new ) for free and was going to pay no more than £20 a month ( inc vat ) or i was leaving.

After some heated debate i got a brand new sealed Nokia 5800, 800anytime/network mins, 1200 texts and unlimited internet plus free o2 to o2 calls for £20inc a month. All on an 18month contract and comes with the 8GB memory card.

They kept trying to get me to take a reconditioned unit but wouldnt promise that it contained the nokia slip case and spare stylus etc so i held on for a new phone. At one point i said i was done and to give me my code as i was going to get the mobiles.co.uk deal and he had me wait while he put me on hold. Came back with the new phone and free internet deal as outlined above.

I have never been a big spender but i pay on time and have been with o2 for about 10 years now, wether that makes a difference i dont know.

just phone up o2 and they have given me 18month £19 a month for 600mins and unlimited texts for the 5800...

Nice, but no unlimited internet? its very useful to not have to watch the data when using the gps/maps facility.

I got a free 8gb card and internet...

And i've just got the phone now.. i only phoned up yesterday.

Whoever was on the other end of the phone must have been in a good mood

Nice result then.

By the way the 8gb card comes as standard from nokia- the guy tried to get to to believe he was "throwing it in as a freebe" as well. I put him straight

My phone came at 9.30 am next day as well by DHL!

ps im assuming its £19 including vat, they can be very cheeky and skim round the vat issue. I just think that £19 sounds like an odd number to get it at rather than £20? Double check that its the included vat price while you still have time to change it.
