I'm 22yo, male, 5ft 11 and weigh 16 stone :( I started a diet today and went for a run but am worried. My diet consisted today of:

Breakfast (6:15am) - Medium portion of Special K
Snacks (10:30am) - few celery and carrot sticks, banana and a satsuma.
Lunch (13:00pm) - Chicken Salad and a muller light yoghurt
Snacks (14:15) - Medium sized fruit salad
Snacks (16:00) - few celery and carrot sticks
Dinner (18:00) - 1 and a half fillets of Haddock and mixed veg

Have had about 3 litres of water throughout the day also. am not hungry. my mum said that this is still way too much to eat but I don't think it is considering I used to eat like 3 bars of chocolate each day, crisps, takeaways etc.

at 18:45 I went for my first ever run and lasted only 20 mins (jogging and walking). My chest felt really tight and I had to walk the rest of the way home. I'm going to go for a run tomorrow night also but I just hope I'll show a little improvement.

My question is, what's my diet like? I'll be eating the same stuff the rest of the week give or take the dinners ie. replace fish with chicken and stuff. Also, I did not realise how unfit I am... if I continue to go out running, will I improve? lol.

just go for a fast walk and then run for 30sec-1min intervals and build it up from there

and your diet looks fine ... as long as that fruit salad isn't the tinned sugary stuff :)

If you are doing low intensity cardio then I would recommend to do it in the morning pre-breakfast.

Also going to the gym and doing weights would be of great benefit.

Going to do this once I get a bit fitter. Just going for runs in the evening now until I get used to it.

Something handy I've noticed is using stairs instead of lifts. There are loads of stairs in my office and I always used the lifts instead, but hike up 3 flights with a PC in your hands and it certainly gets your heart going...
