I surrendered the car to the leasing company today. Kinda sad to see it go as it really was a damn good car.
2.5 years owned
30k miles covered
Nothing went wrong at all
Servicing was cheap
Fuel economy was dreadful round town (15mpg) but very good on motorways (30mpg)
Depreciation was a killer. Bought for 30k at 1 year old. Worth about 9k now.
Dull to drive but very very comfortable and well equipped.

Would I have another? Hmmm, seeing how good and fun my cheap 540i is, I don't think so. Not looking at earning the kind of money where I could afford 30k on a car again anyway.

The 540i rides better but is less comfortable.

You can't really compare them though. The Lex was 3.5 years old. The BMW is 12 years old.

There are only 3 good Lexuses (Lexi?) - the old IS200 (RS200 - the Japanese one), the IS-F, and the Soarer (SC coupe)

Rubbish.
It depends on how you define good though.
The GS430 was a very fast, comfortable mile muncher that was faultlessly reliable. How can you define that as not good?

What about the LS400? The car that showed the Germans how to do reliability and build quality.

Interesting that you mention the Soarer, which was never officially sold here, meaning that you either got a US version in LHD, or a Toyota and rebadged it. Is it still a Lexus?

I was talking about the Lexus range in general, not "UK" specific.

If you really want to be pedantic about badging then almost everything in the Lexus range is a Toyota, as Lexus was not sold in Japan until recently meaning all their products would wear a Toyota badge in Japan (and in fact many still do)

That's my worry with the 5 series though, is the suspension not too hard and uncomfy ? I dislike cars which are crap over poor road surfaces or paved roads. How was your lexus in this matter? Did it glide over the road or did it want to break your back and throw you from left to right all the time or so to say :p?
