The Nokia 5800 Express Media (Tube) Thread

I've now decided to get an iPhone when the new refresh arrives... every fiber of my being screams "WRONG" but the fact is that having will make my life massively easier. Native apps for all the transport types in Zurich as well as city guide apps and god knows how many other things that ive seen that I would genuinely use EVERY day. Fact is that while I love the flexibilty of symbian... it's just nto as convenient as i'd like and my Nokia 5800 is starting to be a bit of a pain to be honest. :(

Think my one is going to be sent away cant get the dialler up or any of the home screen shortcuts to open plus the icons are missing. Tried a reset of the phone nothing, just this minute it happened phone crashed then icons went not cool

I got mine a couple of days ago and like it so far.

2 Major gripes so far though.... no divx support out of the box! and the divx players you can install dont work as there is no touch screen suport so you cant play anything

Also it wont work with my bluetooth handfree kit even though it works fine on my N95. Apparently the 5800 uses a bastardised new version of bluetooth thats non backward compatible..... ie useless

Anyone else having issues with the alarm randomly not going off while the phone is unlocked, then going off when you unlock the phone, an hour after the alarm was meant to go off? Bloody annoying.

I have issues with the alarm not going off full stop. I have it set for 6.00 am on workdays, it was working fine until last week. Now it just fails to go off at all, nearly late for work twice last week. Deleted and recreated the alarm, still no joy. If I set a one off alarm it works fine.

My bluetooth problems where sorted with firmware v21

Im on o2 and they have not certified the upgrade yet. I would have to flash the region code to install it and that invalidates the warranty from o2.

I may have no choice though.

I'm on O2 and updated my phone through Nokia PC software last week so O2 must have certified it.

Well the both the pc updater and the in built phone updater say otherwise. The o2 forums also say they havent updated it yet so i dunno why yours worked :p

edit: ive just tried again and it now says i can update. However when i start the update it seems to go fine then the usb connection disconnects and it askes me to "try again" i click it and then it comes up with updating 15mins and just sits there.

That's definitely odd. A simple glance back at the last few pages of this thread confirms I'm not the only O2 customer whose phone has updated. I must be one of the chosen few.;)

Agh i cant get the damn thing to work. Every time it connect fine, starts updating then disconnects and thats it.... shows 15mins forever.

Edit: yay got it to work. You have to turn the auto keylock off it seems, otherwise it thrown a wobbler when updating.
