Secrect 360 Death Switch?

MGS4 on 360 will shut up the PS3 fanboys about 360 not being able to do it because of DVD.

Full Dual layer Blu-Ray = How many DVDS? 10? 7DL?

Nothing saying it can't be done but your defo seeing something compromised
to lower it down.

To be honest your screaming "bitter" fan boy.

/on topic

Yeh these things existed for a while, as reasons to suggest its a "physical" way of preventing downgrades and such.

Also just to add, all of that article seems very...bleh. Nothing to back any of this up really.
Seems a lot of scare-mongering and rumor spinning to be honest.

MGS4 is mostly vids so they will just reduce the quality or use compression this is what 360 does very well blu-ray uses no compression at all which makes games appear very large.

I dont think it will be done. But it's nothing to do with DVDs.

More down to PS3 being in the script of the game, You think the voice actors are going to come in to re record lines? or do you think they would just cut those parts, as if you've played the game, you'll know they are mentioned a few times

MGS4 on 360 is very possible,

On PS3 I had to wait around 15 mins to install when I first inserted the game then 10 mins to install before each act,

I thought why not just make it an act a disk or maybe 2 acts per disk? it will be much faster swapping a disk than waiting for an install so that nullifies the argument really

No it doesnt... The arguement is, 1 disk no swapping, 2 disks swapping. Always has been. Whether there's install time or not

But saying that, I couldnt care less if i had to swap disks or not. Lost odyssey for instance, I swapped disks lots. Mass Effect i didnt. I enjoyed both games equally...Hardly agitating to swap lol.

MGS 4 hardware wise is most definately capable of coming to the 360 in 1 form or another. I mainly just dont see them altering things like the mention of the 'powerful Cell processor', thats mentioned within game, or the Swap disk scene where otacon actually says "We're on PS3, We don't need to swap disks"

Do you think those will be cut out for an xbox 360 version? Considering Hideo put them in intentionally to mock the 360

No you didnt, it was 8 mins for the main install and then between 1-3 mins per chapter with chapter 5 being the shortest off about 1 minute.
Im still of the opinion if you was a fan of MGS then you would off either bought a PS3 or played it on someone elses. We'll see in a few weeks if the MGS4 thin is true would it be a big thing ? It will be over a year old even if it comes out a few weeks after E3, be nice for more people to play the best game this gen (IMO) though.

Just another thing, the game installs, The installs are performance enhancing PS3 installs I would have thought, Specific to Bluray\PS3 architecture, which would then say to me, that to bring the game to a 360, the game would have to have a major redesign. The way it works I mean, A ground up redesign, hardly a small task

If they put 1 Chapter per DVD, and you played it off the DVD's (Or pre-installed all of them to the HDD If you want?) I'm sure that'd work? Then switching chapters takes either no time at all, or the time it takes to swap the DVD.

I think there are zero technical issues getting it on the 360, it's more the fact Sony would surely ensure it never happens?

RE: MGS4 on 360.

why wouldn't 360 users be given the option to install it to the hard drive and then only have the first disk in the drive (much like oh, i don't know...a PC!?!?) no disk swapping for those with 60/120GB HDDs.

i played it on the PS3, didn't really like it, enjoyable, but nothing out of the ordinary, so i wont shed a tear if it doesn't come out for the 360 (which, like many of the more 'exclusive' exclusives it probably will anyway!).

calling mgs4 ordinary is like saying mj was an average basketball player :(

it is ordinary, it doesn't bring anything new, the humour is bland, the game play is arcadey and doesn't feel weighty, the story aspect make you feel as though you're on rails, i don't like playing an interactive movie, the whole game felt quite childish.

MGS3 was a much better all around game if you ask me, i'd rather go and replay MGS3 than continue playing the MGS4 game i got about 5 hours in to.

edit: best thing about it is the graphics and they are good for a console.

MGS4 had plenty of faults but I have to admit I was blown away by many of the sequences.

I must have played each Metal Gear Solid 2-3 times at least and MGS4 was no different.

The whole Xbox thing is quite humorous. If you think nothing would be compromised then you are incredibly naive.

Uncompressed Audio, Uncompressed textures were only available because of the Blu-Ray. Slower read times lead to the installs, which are a pain. But in all honesty, make a cup of tea and its done.

All other Metal Gears have come to other consoles, its never been an exclusive series. But for some reason, MGS4 I can't see it happening. The PS3 is too different, something programmed from the ground up to take advantage of the cell is not going to be easy to adapt.

Well the compression on the 360 is doing fine on other games compared to the ps3 even beating ps3 titles in curtain departments so compression isn't that big of a deal.

Good point about different programming but I think before they even made the game they would have made it so they have the option in the future to put in on another console.
