Some of you will remember Gypsy (my awesome working/hunting terrier) from my infamous ratting thread...

She was mated on 6th April 2009, and is now due on 8th June 2009. The vet reckons four or five pups minimum judging by the size of her already. She's on day 40 (5 and a half weeks, out of the 9 week gestation period) and bitches don't normally show until week 6 or 7; later for maiden bitches like this one.

Roll on the fun. :)
 
LOL No, bitches just tend to get more affectionate and clingy to their master as whelping day draws near. Dogs > humans ;) There's a few pics of her on the ratting thread, but here's a couple from a year or so ago when she was in temporary kennels (I was waiting for her galvanised runs to be made).

Just found this... doggie porn lol Note the curly coat (she was groomed out in the pics above, and is now fully stripped (back to a short coat) ready for the birth. :)

Yeah lol The dog mounts the bitch in, um, doggy fashion. Then once they're at it the glans at the base of the dog's penis swells. This effectively 'locks' him inside the bitch, at which point you have a 'tie'. The dog will then dismount the bitch and either stand beside her or, better yet (for comfort etc) stand back to back with her.

Think about it in evolutionary terms. If you're a wolf and about to get stuck to another wolf for anything up to an hour, you're not gonna want to be in doggy style while you do! A back-to-back approach gives two 'sharp ends' to attack/defend should a threat come along.

But yeah, dog porn is weird. :p

I'll be keeping a dog (hopefully) and my mate who owns the stud dog wants a bitch. After that we'll have to see how many she has, but there are working homes lined up in advance.

Yeah I was pretty shocked myself, tbh. I mean I'd heard of it but I didn't think our back-street hick vets would have one! LOL I said no at first, because in all honesty I thought it'd be super expensive; and let's face it she'll either have had some or not. But it was only £20 so one can't complain really! :)
 
Well, the bitch is (was) due Monday so we went to a mate's house on the lash. Rolled in at 4.-something am this morning to be greeted by puppies! :D Two healthy, wriggling, vigorous bundles of squeaking greed... Swiftly followed in the next two hours by three MORE of the same.

The bitch has settled down now, contentedly feeding her brood, so I'm happy to go to bed 'knowing' that she's finished. Total (?) number of pups is five: 1 bitch, 3 dogs, and 1 that I haven't been able to see underneath of to sex yet. The dam's very much in the "These are MINE. Intrude and you WILL lose some fingers!" mode at the mo, so the last one can remain unsexed until later. I shall call it Lady (Gaga) regardless :p

Congratulations.
Our cat hand kittens 3 weeks ago. it is a facinating thing to watch.
She scared us all today by moving them and we had no idea where to!
