Stop wasting your time and don't bother voting?

The thing is My dad said a lot of people lost their lives in order that we could vote, so to please him I go to the polls. What i do do with the one vote I have is my choice. In fact I'm seriously thinking of spoiling my vote next time round just to show the candidates what I think of them (even though they don't know who it was exactly)

Voting Liberal Democrats here, simply because Labour are doing a terrible job, and the Tories, as always, are your typical rich toffs who couldn't give a damn about you and would happily sell your mother.

People who think the torys are still all about rich people need to fast forward 100 years.

When the Tories were last in, most of the scandals that I mostly ever heard about were Tory MPs caught with their pants down with some woman other than their wives.

I don't recall any Tory MP who resigned due to misconduct being given more than one chance and given a return to the Cabinet as Mr Madekson and Mr Blunkett were although I will stand corrected on that if wrong though.

In addition to that, Mandelson was given a canny number with the EU and then given a peerage.

I vote tactically in all elections. I live in a traditional Labour Town - the economy was based on Steel, Coal and Brewing. Like a lot of Welsh Towns however all of those major industries have closed down.

The Conservatives haven't got a cat in hells chance of winning here, so I tend to vote Liberal, not because I support all of their Policies, its because I don't want Labour to get in. Hopefully a load more people in my Town will vote the same way and kick NuLabour into touch. I strongly suspect that this will be mirrored up and down the Country.

What would be funny is if all that meant torys get in and then Lib Dem make incredible gains or maybe even overtake labour!! hah now that would be EPIC

I agree with the sentiment, unfortunately no one who matters will care and i mean that in the nicest way.

Your heart, your feelings matter nothing, your tick does...its hard to know what to do with it.

You really need your head read, seriously. Do you honestly think the Labour governemt before them left this country in a nice rosey condition ?? Im not saying that all the things that the Tories did were wonderful but you need to take tough decsions to sort out the horrendous mess the previous Labour administration left behind, much like the next administration will have to do to sort out the mess we are currently in.

Nothing compared to what they left behind for 'new labour'...

Right now the Country is in such a state that it compares to the days of the iron lady, only difference is, world happenings put us there this time, she and her party did it all by herself when they had the chance last time round, they've learnt nothing apart from how to play the media a bit better and why some people would actually consider voting for them. Poor souls.

New labour inherited a good economy, shrinking national debt, sound economic plans, low unemployment... What was so bad about that?

No, it compares to the 70's, Labour's previous attempt to destroy this countries economy, except the national borrowing is even higher.

Is there anyone at the point like me where they are tottaly dislusioned with politics, i mean whats the point in reading what they "mite" do because the last time a government promised us something *cough* lisbon treaty *cough* they COMPLETELY ignored what they promised and did what they wanted ?

Hey ?? The economy was in good shape when Labour took over, so much so that Labour stuck with the Tories spending plans and actually amassed a surplus which was called Gordon Brown's war chest.

The economy might have been on the rise (though we were starting from a very low point thanks to mis-managed spending cuts) but the Conservatives left one hell of a mess for Labour to sort out. Crumbling Victorian schools and hospitals, not enough doctors and nurses, not enough teachers, not enough police, inner-city decay etc.

most of which labour haven't really fixed. they've thrown money about and manipluated statistics but are things any better?

IIRC, the area I live in has always historically been an extremely safe Labour seat with no hope of anyone challenging that, unless I'm underestimating public anger at ZanuLabour atm of course. So, protest vote/spoiled ballot paper for me it is.

End of "Sleaze"eh? Indeed.
