So, currently owning a Q6600, Asus Striker Extreme and an 8800GTX... with ~£6-700 to spend, and the 150-200 i'd get for what i already have in my computer... how much of an improvement do you expect i'm likely to see?

I run a 30" Dell monitor at 2550x1600, and cant actually game at that resolution on more recent games with my current setup.

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Kingston HyperX 6GB 12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle £589.98

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2048MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £248.99

Should be a sizeable gain in performance, and currently that's about the best upgrade you can get for your budget.

Agree with Happy, you would see a good improvent, hopefully my 4870X2 should be coming next week :)

Should be fun, considering i have never overclocked my Q6600, 2.4ghz - 4.0 will be nice at least, i just hope running games at 2550x1600 will become feasable :P

Most things should run at that res on high settings bar Crysis etc, which will play fine at 1920x1200.
