Watching some of his very early fights and he really could box. Okay the opposition wasn't as good but he really could box and wasn't just charging in like he does now.

Tbh I reckon the eating screwed him up, either way something happened

Hes had too many fights, and allways takes a lot of punchs in every fight. I think thats whats caught up with him.

Mayweather caught him at the right time in his carrer. Making him come up a weight divison that he wasnt comfortable at. And got him striaght off the back of Collazo and Urango which both were punishing 12 rounders.
If you watch hatton vrs tszyu his footwork and movement are so much sharper than when he boxed maywaeather/pac . And since the collazo fight you can see his ability to take a punch lowering. Feather fisted Lazcano nearly knocked him down.

He got used to winning in a certain style and the training was then built around the style of overpowering opponents rather than boxing them.

Of course it doesn't help that Hatton is quite short/short reach and so can't really stay on the outside too much.

He was exposed against world class opposition, thats all.

Whichever time period you take him at, he was never as good as Mayweather or Pacquiao. He definately would have been able to take more shots and not go down as quick, but I think his lifestyle in between fights has seriously affected his ability to take punches.

i think hatton is often complacent, and shows lack of respect to the opposition, after the mayweather fight i think he should have called it a night

Hatton was looked after which is what they do to curtain boxers now they end up making them into something great when really there just average and Hatton was kept around so long due to his following he had.

His life style didn't help matters you can tell he wasn't really committed to boxing and if you even asked him history of boxing he wouldn't have a clue.

I think it's because a black man beat him.

Classic:p...personally i never have liked the way Hatton has fought..hes too much of a brawler and doesnt think very well inside the ring...its no wonder Pacman destroyed him and Mayweather did a pretty good demolition job on him.

Hes past it and should hang up his gloves if he has any self respect for himself.

OK pac is world class, but I still have ??? over Mayweather. Maywether is probably the smartest boxer in a log time, but not the best boxer.
In the mayweather v hatton fight he had nearly a 10inch arm length advantage over hatton and now mayweathers on about fighting a lot smaller fighters. JJM is a world class fighter. But he's 35 and been in a lot of wars and also a natural 130 pounder.

I'd rather see Mayweather v cotto or Mayweather V Margo which he's ducked for so long.

Margarito's name should be banned when it comes to talking about serious fights to be made imo. Mayweather Williams at 147lbs would be amazing, as would Mayweather Cotto, but Margarito is cheating scum and shold never box again.
