STALKER Complete 2009 - [MOD]

Well I'm going to give it another try, haven't gamed on my PC for a while. And I have a 3800 X2, 2GB, 1950pro and Vista, so hopefully it won't kill my pc :p

well on my specs with everything maxed out 8aa 16 af dynamic shadows and etc. it drops sometimes to 48 fps. usually around 55 ~ 80 fps depends if its day or night

when u look at fire it slows down a bit but otherwise looks great

Quite enjoying playing this at the moment. A little too bright during the day imo, means it's not as foreboding as when i played through it the first time. But goddamn the nights are dark! You can't really do anything at night until you get a suit with decent night vision.

I think that was the idea, the day time is the 'safe time' in comparison to the night, but at night... all goes dark and the ghoulies come out.

Whilst playing it yesterday I was stranded on a rooftop all night in Rostok, with no ammo, after having expended it killing about 40 wild dogs, 5 snorks and 3 bloodsuckers who'd jumped out overnight. I was using the basic stalker suit (the green one which is better than the basic merc/rookie and bandit garb), and even then the nightvision's really blurry, really adds to the character of the game, unlike most games where it'd be focused 100%. I'd gone through about 10kg of ammo, and only had my knife and empty guns left, so in the end, I waited until dawn when a bandit raiding party came into the area, waited the monsters to go for them and ended up jumping from wall to rooftop until I was a little further away from the fight and pegging it to Yantar through the tunnel as quick as possible (and the dogs almost caught me :o)

One of the most tense game moments I've had in years....awesome stuff!

Hopefully somebody can help me here...

Bought STALKER on release, played it a bit, lost the disk, uninstalled a while ago. Saw this thread and re-bought it via steam. Assumed the steam version was fully patched up (version 1.0005), downloaded the mod and followed the above instructions. Nothing seems to have changed. I still have the old title screen (assume it should change to the new one shown in the flickr screenshots?), and graphics seem the same. Also appear to have a few old saves from ages ago.

Any advice? I guess I'm probably best off uninstalling, deleting all STALKER files and re-installing then trying again? Or is there something obvious i may be missing before trying that?

cheers in advance

I'm sold, I'll be ordering stalker now!

One thing I really dislike is how little you can actually carry.
Sure, I agree it is like real life in a way but this is a game.

But maybe running on bare minimum is the point, to make the game more immersive and "ahhh holy ****" they're coming right for us!!!

I'm sure the mod increases the weight limit, at the end of the game I was carrying 3/4 main weapons with 2 side weapons, spare armour suit and a smeg load of ammo. So it's not that bad.

I'm not using the Steam version, so this info may be useless to you, but as far as I remember, the title screen didn't change for me until I had installed the latest patch for the mod (think it's at 1.3 now).

If you have installed this patch, try the whole thing again. But before installing the mod, check that the Steam version you DL is indeed at 1.0005 (will be shown in the bottom left corner of the title screen).

Hope that helps!

Hmmm I didnt even know there was a patch for this mod :o

Not sure whether I want to install it now as I'm half way through the game, incase it breaks it :(
Im still on the original version of the complete pack, which explains why a few additional features are missing for me. The game with the original version of the complete mod is using 800mb of textures apparently at 1920x1080 in some areas, guess this proves ATI compression is better than Nvidia then as Im only getting occasional stuttering in some areas with a 512 card :o

Well, according to the Readme, saves should still work after patching

- redesigned HUD to bring back stamina bar, compass, ammo icon, bigger ammo count font, created new hitmark texture

- fixed missing text when talking to Bes

- enabled tracer effect for armor-piercing bullets, so you can visually distinguish the type of ammo used

Im definately on original then, I got the crash when trying to equip a silenced mp5 mentioned fixed in 1.2.... I thought it was an overclock at the time :D

Its nice to see the stalker engine finaly stretching its legs , it was such a shame when the original came out minus all the pharalax lighting (think thats the right spelling) and driveable cars and the like, it seems so much was planned but never used, I hope we see more games like this as it takes me back to SS2 .. which i love more than my own children....

if i had any

Sorry - another quick question.

Installed the mod fine (1.3), but have downloaded the latest version of the mod (1.31). The readme installation instructions are exactly the same as the previous version, yet the size of the (new) folder is about half the size of 1.3. Should I just overwrite the earlier mods gamedata folder? Or is there something I'm missing?

Cheers X

Just copy it over; it'll give you the option to overwrite any updated files, and its likely thats what the patch is; small updates, rather than the entire mod, 1.30 may well have had more changes over standard which is why the patch was larger.
