Prayer's Answered? Western Digital HD TV

Hopefully the wdtv version 2 will be out this year from what there saying.

They don't need to release a upgrade version any time soon, this does the job minus the ability to decode DTS. Don't expect many additional features if they do release another version. WD sell HDDs so they aren't going to incorporate anything that will lose them sales. It is good that this thing isn't too fancy, less chance of it failing.

Did you return yours in the end and get the much more expensive Popcorn Hour?

I do love my WDHDTV player :D, it does exactly what it said it will do & more. Over 600 movies connected and does its job well :).

Is there any way to jump to a specified time? The fast forward feature isn't great especially with large MKV files.

Cheers,

Cheers,

When fast forwarding, press the 'next' button. You'll jump forward 10mins each press. The same in reverse too - when rewinding, pressing 'back' will go back 10mins.

NOTE: This may only be a feature of recent firmwares, not sure. If you have the latest though, you're fine.

Works a treat, thanks mate.

Bah! I have installed teh latest firmware and it still does not power down my USB drive. Its mains powered; but only fires up by way of USB when you plug into the back of the WDTV. The drive is a Western Digital 1TB Book. I cannot beleive WD does not fix this for their own drives?!?

Out of curiosity, Is it possible to plug a usb Bluray drive into this and play discs back through it?

The modified firmware claims to do this. Would be interesting to see if they add it in an official firmware update.
