Tonight is not a good night..

Missed this, but I would have gone and retake in August. Im only in my first year, what I get doesnt matter beyond a 40% pass, which I would be capped at in August. I would have actually only missed the one exam (one being a week ago, the final one being in 2 weeks), so wouldnt of been a big deal.

You've only got three exams? What are you doing? Multimedia or somthing?

Statement of lies? What did you "do" to make Immigration in the US finger you to such an extent?

Either you a) got a complete **** of an immigration officer (lets face it, the majority of them are), b) screwed up royally on your visa waiver c) got canned for something incredibly bad over here that meant they were waiting for you on arrival (Nazi war criminal, terrorist etc..).

Nope, iirc, even a caution for possession of drugs will stop you from being admitted to many countries.

Ouch.

So do immigration have international criminal records on their terminals now? Wouldn't surprise me with the advent of the border control/homeland security era. Getting into the States is like somthing out of HL2 these days....

Or, is it down to getting caught out through honesty on the visa waiver form?

I honestly don't know how they'd find out, maybe it's all logged? I always used to think that cautions = nothing, but when I heard it on tv a while ago i was shocked. I seem to remember that Thailand won't let you in with a drugs conviction...

Ok I'll chip in with my current run of bad luck just to cheer everyone up :D

1) Recently found out my daughter can't get into the next school because they have reduced the catchment area size. There are now NO schools in the area for. So we have to move house in the next few years (lovely stamp duty).

2) My sister in law has just been made redundant so we're trying to help her, including financially.

3) Having survied a round of redundancies 3 months ago I've now been told there are another 700 jobs to go from my area... so I'm at risk again.

4) My wife has just been told they may be selling her company and there will be a restructure (ie redundancies!). So we could both be out of a job.

5) My brother is having tests for cancer (waiting to see a specialist)

Yay, who can beat that lot? \o/

Sure man, my mum gets married every day  And yes Sone, if it was my own money I would have happily lied. However, as my mum would have been paying for both myself and my ex's flight and stay in a stupidly expensive hotel (Bellagio, which would have been too late to cancel without losing the money if I'd got declined at the border), there is no way in hell I was going to risk a good few £1000 of hers.

for a normal room in a 5 star hotel the Bellagio is damn cheap

I have been there twice and it averaged at less than 100notes a night. Vegas is great for cheap hotels you could have stayed accross the road at bills for under 50 a night and its a 5minuite walk.

Last september i wanted a cheap break and did a week in Vegas for 500 including flights well worth the risk for mothers wedding imho

People like you are so annoying.

Stop making out like it wouldn't be a big deal to get caught at the US border. It would definitely ruin his mum's wedding.

Get some realism, please.

it would ruin my mothers wedding for me not be there. I am sure she would bring it back to the UK if i couldent make it.

(We had a simialar situation, my sis was supposed to get married in the belagio in april but cancelled and bought it back to brum as family couldent make it, she lost the wedding money but all the rooms were refunded and as the exchange rate changed we all made a fair bit :D )
