Talk about near miss

Its a great corner. Ive driven Castle Combe in an older Focus ST170, and been a passenger in a number of Ferraris. The accidents are mainly caused by the corner before it, Avon Rise. The breaking point is on the brow, and if you do that, you will end up going straight on as the car goes light. So people get brave and brake later, which means they carry way to much speed into Quary and go off. Or they chicken out, brake before the top of Avon Rise and then accelerate to early in the corner, and have to much speed for the exit which slopes away slightly and causes spins on the exit. Its no wonder its the most popular place on the track.

I need to go to Combe more.

I notice nobody in front span off ;)

I'm also a strong believer that cheap lowering springs with stock dampers, and other such dodgy bolt on mods are a big cause of these cheap cars with ultra dodgy on-limit handling characteristics.

The speed is actually faster than it looks in the pics, Quarry is a third gear ~60mph bend, and easily catches people out, especially when the track is greasy like that.

Quarry is awesome. As skeeter said, it even catches pro's out, and is renowned for being one of the trickiest corners on any UK track. I personally love it, it's such a satisfying corner when you get it right.

Camp corner catches a lot of people out too, it's a double apex and you have to ignore the first and dive for the second, but noobs to Combe naturally go for the first apex the end up having to correct and hug the corner untill the second apex.

Quarry and Camp make Castle Combe one of the best tracks in the UK IMO.
