I am going to upgrade my PSU to either of the two on the title but can't decide which is best, with the tagan i would go with either the 1100w or the 1300w and with the be quiet i would go with the 1200w. Any experience comments? Also on my mobo i have a 24pin and a 8 pin power, with the psu i have atm the 8 pin also has a 4 pin attached and so does either of these only have a 8 pin because i don't want he 4 pin with the 8 pin.

Thanks;)

I had a similar problem deciding between the two as well, I mainly liked the tagan due to the nice lights :-) though,

But in terms of quality, I'm sure most here will agree that the 'be quiet' is difficult to beat, so go for that, buy! btw 1200w?? what's your setup?

i want something future proof so if i decide to use it for a new setup, do i really need 1200w, i do have 5 hard drives though, 2 optical drives, 4870x2, i7 920, lights, asus rampage 2 extreme + 12gb ram and im just about to install windows 7 rc (random)

Be quiet in my new rig
so +1 for sure.

mine also has a fan rpm lead that connects to the MB and then you have 4 fan sockets on the psu to connect 4 more fans too. (that I presume would be speed controlled by the MB)

Not tried the above yet Golf got in the way

Be Quiet has an online Calculator that may give you a rough idea.

BeQuiet - but, as already mentioned, 1200w is overkill, even for future proofing. I too would get the 850w version.

I'm going to be buildinga similar rig but with a 295 gfx card and i'm thinking of only using a 650w BeQuiet.

I've just got the Be Quiet 850w to go with my Asus GTX 295 :D The psu comes with a 24 pin cable attached to the psu (with a 20pin adapter if needed). There are 2 cables, a 4 pin and an 8 pin for the motherboard, these are modular so you only plug in the one you need :)

Even if you got a second 4870X2 a decent 850W would cope fine, i don't think you would need to be more future proof than that.
