Your going to be 18, insurance will be a killer on ANYTHING. Save your money, spend 2k on a Focus and after a year sell it on (whilst not losing much money) and then you can buy + insure something nice. There isn't a single car that I'd spend 10k on in your insurance situation.

For the insurance thing; it's because you can cause a lot more damage to other peoples property in a car of any age than of a bike, regardless of how fast it can go.

You also may find that slightly older cars cost more to insurance than newer cars because of the damage they do to other vehicles and the lack of safety gubbins ie more personal injury claims.

Don't think this really makes a difference tbh, Mini is by far the cheapest thing I found to insure, mainstream or classic, and it's most definitely not the safest car
