And no you don't have to fork out thousands on insurance. Spending a quarter of your years wage on insurance is borderline insanity. I've only been driving just over a year and my premium is less than half a months wages.

Buy something crap and cheap, insure it third party and after a year reap the reward of being patient.

Have you tried a full comp quote? I found for some cars, fully comp is less than TPF+T

Also, have you got quotes without modifications? Buying a standard car may be a better choice.

Also try a few comparison sites, try the ones on this page http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance and direct line may be worth a go as they do not use comparison sites. Insurance for your first year will be quite a bit, but £2780 for TPF+T is more than I'd expect.

edit: infact i dare say i could go 0 - 150 and 150 - 0 before it gets to 150 quite easly.

He has a 125cc bike and reckons he can

a) even get to 150mph
b) beat a Supra TT in a 0-150-0 race...

I don't know a lot about bikes, but i was under the impression even the fastest 2 stroke 125's topped out at about 110mph ish, whereas the more common 4-stroke topped out at about 80mph. So god knows what he's done to his 125 to make it go up to 150mph.

Jet engine maybe? :p
