LED Lenser Pro Series P6 Torch

Here's my latest torch, unfortunately not big enough for self defense.
Rated at 900 lumens but in reality about 600 lumens, uses a Seoul SSC P7-D LED.
Just over £20, uses a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, more of a flood type beam than a thrower, 5 modes Hi-mid-low-strobe-sos.

thanks for the pics :)

I start my training as a PC very soon and I've bought the LED Lenser P7, ordered from pellilite on ebay for £45 with free engraving - so you can have anything written on it also, i.e. your security firm / name etc. This may seem slightly expensive for a torch, but believe me it's worth the money.

I was blown away with how powerful it is, 200 lumens coming from a fairly small torch - on a focussed beam it can light up a house literally from 1 end of my road to the other. It feels really solid too, a top quality product. It came with a holster and caribine etc. to attach to your belt, would definitely recommend!

very james bond :D

Is that Mag-Lite Led Upgrade Module any good?

I've had a 3 cell maglite for years and it has been very reliable but I've never been too impressed with the power of it.
Will the upgrade module make a big difference, enough to justify the £20 or so?

The maglite I have must be about 5 years old now so I expect the bulb needs replacing anyway.

Often wondered about those upgrade units, i've got the 2AA minimag and the battery life is pants. BUT the led upgrade costs nearly as much as a whole new torch!

I'd have though it would be quite good, if only for battery life, as it goes from a normal bulb to LEDs. Not sure about the beam though.

Here's a pic of my Surefire G2 LED...a blinding little torch :)

You can swap out the aerospace-grade aluminium head for a strike bezel if you "need" it ;)

Deal Extreme, search under SSC flashlights there's loads. You'd also need a charger about £4-£5 and 18650 batteries, two for £6-£7.
Every things free P&P.

I'd be pretty dubious about £6/£7 18650 batteries to be honest, I am guessing for that price they are unprotected cells? I'd spend the extra money and get some proper protected 18650's for ~£11, then you don't run the risk of them exploding.

Also, be very careful with lithium batteries (18650, RCR123's etc) as if you over discharge them your gonna break 'em. Most good quality flashlights (Dereelight, Fenix, etc) have protection built in and stop the battery from going below 2.7v.

Edit: ^^ Nice G2, I've got the incandescent version and it's a really good torch - shame about the 1hr battery life though :(

They are protected but I appreciate what you are saying, you have to be extremely careful with lithium rechargeables.

I've got a 6D Maglite with a Terralux LED upgrade in it, its rated at 140 lumens and to be honest, its a lot, LOT brighter than the 900 lumen torch that is mentioned earlier on.

I'll wait till its dark, and take some pics.

So i passed my security training and need a good torch for future work.

spotted this torch and so i just wanted your input, bare in mind i want a discrete but power beam.

what do you guys think ?

i've got the v2 mate, it's got a tail end button press which is nice for single hand use, and I use mine in the clubs as well sometimes as a doorman, it's nice to be able to see stuff in dark corners if you need to eliminate flashing lights etc, can't fault it as a torch though, nice build quality and discrete as a unit too, sits in tight to my radio in it's own belt pouch,

This crowd is pretty good service and give good info for a shop, i've had a chunk of kit from them, believe me, you'll want a good set of boots before you buy the torch though :p

5.11 Side Zips are the mutts nutts ;)
