Better this for £500 v2 haha

Well, the revised chip is a good start. As for the memory it's down to personal choice and budget - i prefer the Kingston for example. I can't fault the mobo...

Don't check the Mobo, Ram or GPU subforums then Plec  :p

Hehe - he really is excited. (i bet the mods are going to love his first venture into the forums - welcome anyway :) )

EDIT: Says I, not editing my previous post for a reply :s

haha thanks. been using you guys for a long time religiously. just never thought i'd need to use the forums.
stupidly fast response...i didn't expect to get this much info in like, 1 hour?

crazy...thanks though, maybe all over the place but at least you know you're helping a lot!

Just out of interest, what will be the rest of your spec: Gfx, cooler, case, psu, monitor, etc?

As that's a nice starting point.

GFX just now is an EVGA 9800GTX+ 1024MB. thinking about upgrading too.
Running an Akasa AK-965BL Blue LED Cpu cooler.
Antec 900 with a couple extra fans.
PSU a gigabyte odin 550W but i have a 700W aswell.
Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW (22")

anything else?

cool...the only thing i'd worry about it my antec 900 is cable management. i just can't do it. i bought cable ties and they kinda worked, but no matter how hard i try i never get it looking remotely like other peoples.

Go to youtube and do a search on cable management/tidying - i'm sure someone will have uploaded a guide. (I'm a lost cause when it comes to cable tidying - too lazy).

You basically run some of the wires under the motherboard tray and feed them out of the relevent holes. You have to prepare some of the wires before you even fit the MB. (sometimes you will need cable extensions.) Some recent threads have some very good examples - with pics.
