Anyone tryed these?

I prefere a pair of headphones compared to 7.1 surround sound speakers because of the cost, space and the fact i would like to play with out annoying people.

I want to kjnow about these because of the surround sound.

So what are these like?

Will be used for gaming.

Thanks:)

They are available in a few stores down here, on and offline :)

Just working out if they are worth it or not

Don't get too excited about the 7.1 thing. It's just Dolby Headphone + virtual speaker shifter. You can get the same effect from a Xonar soundcard with any set of stereo headphones. It does work very well though.

* 7.1 surround sound powered by Dolby® technology: Delivers a detailed soundfield—hear your enemies before they see you.

So dolby headphone, something you can get on a soundcard.

* Ear-enclosing design: Shields you from distractions and immerses you in the game.

As ground braking as a cloud.

* 40 mm laser-tuned speaker drivers with neodymium magnets: High performance components deliver crisp highs, lows, and everything in between.

OMG lasers, it must be good :eek::eek:

Plus it apparently does everything in between, and since they don't even mention this would be called the mids, I can guess that they sound pretty shoddy.

* Full-speed, all-digital USB connection: Delivers clean, clear audio and lets you keep your desk speakers plugged into your sound card.

Full speed usb delivers clean and clear audio, WOW !!!! Going to sell all normal headphones just to get usb.

You can see I am not the greatest fan of silly headsets like this, and as I always say, try out a pair of decent headphones from Sennheiser, Goldring, Audio Technica, Beyer dynamic etc and find out how good music, games and movies can sound rather than than strapping x2 G9 mice to your head :p No fancy technobabble or silly adjustable buttons or tech, just a cable attach to x2 high quality drivers in enclosures attached to a comfortable headband.

Can you get Senheisers to sound like they are sound sound?:)

Assuming you mean surround sound - yes. Just use them with an X-Fi, Xonar or one of the many other soundcards or receivers capable of Dolby Headphone or Yamaha Silentcinema.

I've been looking aruond these forums trying to find a really great gaming headset (mic optional) and people keep repeatedly saying "get a Sennheiser" or some toher brand. But could you actually reccomend a specific model? It's very hard for some of us less-clued-in people to choose a good headset. The whole 7.1 thing seems awesome to me, and the G35's definately look good, as does the Razer Barracuda (which I am tempted to get), but just naming a brand alternative doesnt help us pick a specific model unfortnuately. It's kind of like saying "you really dont want to buy a Porsche 911, buy an Aston Martin"...

But WHICH Aston Martin?

To be fair any Aston Martin :D

I believe the Sennheiser HD555 or Goldring DR150's are pretty popular.

The reason being...

"Gaming" Headsets = Fiat Panda

Stereo Headphones = Aston Martin

It doesn't matter which model, they are going to be better.

dont agree with this at all,

Gaming headset = for games

stereo = for music

2 differnt things

Not when headphones can do what the headsets can do with games just as well, while being in a different class for music.

You're entitled to your opinion, but myself, along with plenty of others on this forum agree, after years of using both, that stereo headphones are the way to go for excellent sound quality that will last for decades, and when coupled with the right hardware and software, are able to provide immersive multidirectional sound.

I can understand the confusion that people have with thinking that stereo headphones cannot do surround sound because yes, wait for it, they are called stereo headphones. Certain quality stereo headphones with the right source (X-Fi & Xoanar) do game surround sound well with better audio fidelity than the so called surround sound headphones. A whole bunch of average quality speakers in a headphone are always going to sound average.

Surround sound is not a new requirement for headphones, it's been around for ages. Classical music audiophiles refer to the soundstage which is another term for surround sound. Classical music is performed in a circle around a conductor with the instraments at various elevations. Good quality stereo headphones by design convey this very well and believe you me there not a more fussy audio nut than a classical music lover. Many Senns models are very popular with classical music listeners whom require an accurate soundstage and therefore also a good match for gaming.

Sorry for preaching :D

Why is stereo only for music, why isn't 5.1 good, why isn't 7.1 better, why can't stereo do games at all, what makes headsets soo damn special other than having than having the name 'gaming' in their product title ?

its the fact you have built in mic... 7.1 surrund sound... as usb dont need to unplug speakers!

just nice and easy and i am very happy with my purchase :)

And why do you need soo many little drivers when you only have 2 ears, plus the fnds could have been spent on 2 very high quality drivers that sounbd better in every respect. Then use dolby headphone settings from your soundcard to aid in the surround effects.

Always best to use a dedicated quality soundcard over usb, would never recommend otherwise.

Enjoy them anyway.
