Best 'team' goals ever

I seem to remember Argentina's goal being better than that, but the passing was boring and against a poor side.

I like quick breaking goals, so the two Rooney-Ronaldo goals from fast breaks (one last season and the one against Arsenal in Europe) come to mind as well as a few Arsenal ones from the Pires/Henry/Bergkamp/Ljungberg era.

The Hammers goal of the season.

Great goal. Remember that and thought it was brilliant at the time.

I was actually being serious. From a technical point of view, Essien's goal is much more impressive. I still think van persie's volley (from last season?) is the best I've seen though.

From no point of view is Essien's more impressive.

Not the stature of the game it came in, not the timing, not the technical ability required...

They're all individual goals, which isn't what the thread is about. Zinedine Yazid Zidane however is miles better, and as a player was miles better.

Everything about that goal, like Gilly said is world class, not many players could ever pull that off.

Essien's isn't in the same class as Zidane's goal.

A Goal Senegal Scored in the 2002 World Cup... I can't remember who scored it or who they were playing though :(
Think it was Diao vs Turkey

Zidane's came down from about 30 foot in the air. Essien's didn't

As for better opposition, Valdes isn't really a top keeper.

Neither strike was saveable so the keeper doesn't really matter. Zidane was planted and the ball was basically dropping for him vertically. Essien had to run to volley from further out and with a defender closing him down. Anyone who has played much football knows that Essien's goal is the harder to do from a technical viewpoint.

LOL

Great argument.

Ask most people on here and they'll say Zidane's was much harder to execute.

No he's not.

He's not the top keeper. I definitely think he's amongst the top keepers in the world though, probably top 20. He gets a lot of stick but he does play in an attacking orientated team with a pretty poor defense in front of him.

Which goalie was Zidane's against? I can't remember.

Also should add I'm not agreeing with bibalasvegas, not at all.

I guess, he probably is in the top 20 to be fair.

I know Hans Jorg-Butt played for them around that time but I dunno if it was him.

How is Essien's harder from a technical point of view? Zidane hit his on his weaker foot, when it was dropping vertically, from his left hand side.

Whereas, Essien's volley was hit on the top of the foot from a straight-on angle, much easier to do from a technical point of view. Is Essien's really any more impressive than Rooney vs Newcastle or Scholes vs Villa? Simple answer is no.

Neither of the two volleys mentioned above are as hard to do or as impressive for that reason as Zidane's volley, therefore his is still the best.

Anyway, on the subject of best team goals, surely Brazil vs Italy 1970 World Cup Final has to be the best still?! Argentina's goal in the 2006 World Cup was immense as well.
