Today's weather sucks...

What the ****? Do they not think that the British public have enough common-sense to get through a bit of warm weather on it's own? Talk about patronising!
Seriously every time I read the odd post in this forum you're getting all riled up about something.

Reportedly every year in London an average of 120 people die due to heat. The Department of Health are doing their job and providing advice to the vulnerable or their carers.

I disagree, The changeable weather we've been having lately is Blinding, Good strong winds to freshen the place up & good strong clean rain to wash the place down, Feels nice. Clean & right.

Heat waves sux, Nice to have a good bit of Sun for a few days but you can't beat a big storm to clear the air.
I Love living on an Island.

Riled up, where? Oh I'm sorry, I must've missed that particular advance in technology that allows one to view other people's moods and demeanour via the medium of text on interweb fora.

No, no, no, no, no :p the changing weather is rubbish, it should decide what it wants to be. And if preferable at all times of year that should be warm and sunny. Maybe I should move to the Sahara or something, somewhere near an oasis for a swimming pool. Last two summers I think had about a week of nice weather and rained the rest, and winter was too cold. (I'm just grumpy lol)

I once had heatstroke or something extreme.

I had been playing football all day as an 11 year old, fealt feint and in desperate need of a drink, saw some fanta had a sip then just collpased and shook loads / had a fit

I then woke up absolutley drenched in sweat. One of the wierdest experiences of my life.

To be honest, I'm dying for some proper sun for a change. Thanks to pretty much never having a holiday to soak the sun or retracted my testicles and purchasing fake-tan, I am essentailly very, very white. It would be nice to look a little healthier for a change! ;)

Listen, our Emergency Planning & Policy Unit in the NHS already has the Heat Wave Plan.

Planning for planning's sake I say!

They are also still going crazy about swine flu when all common sense says be cautious not over panic...

But thats their job, all day to write pandemic plans and now heat wave!

:o

I find it insane that in the '1st world' that we live in, heat can kill 52 thousand people!

What can be done about it? No medical help can be given, and you can't exactly 'turn it down'. People just aren't accustomed to it and can't cope with it. Bear in mind, though, that most of the deaths were elderly people.
