Had a Dell D600 laptop, where the screen was split in half. Very strange.

Reinstalled with Windows 7 - and it's doing the same thing!

BIOS displays fine
Windows startup animation displays fine
800x600 displays fine
but 1024 x 768, the screen is split in half... top half mirrors in the bottom half, and strange goings ons if you move the mouse cursor from the bottom half into the top half.

Any ideas? Screwed laptop?

Probably connection issue with the screen to the board inside or something? On some laptops you can pop off a bar above the keyboard where the LED lights are etc, which can give access to the screen data cable in the middle - might be worth checking everything is in place.

Screen faulty. From what I remember its the LVDS board or possible the main control/logic board.

No, XP previous to the Windows 7 install

Thanks chief - LVDS board/logic board etc, are they built onto the screen, or part of the motherboard?

I shall do, thanks!

Its different on each screen but 9 times out of 10 the the LVDS portion is part of the panel but the main/logic is seperate and easy to replace.
