The Samsung OmniaHD i8910 ... this NEEDS it's own thread.

Any contract LOL. Said I don't spend enough. I spend £30 a month and have been with them at least 4 years. Felt annoyed but feel better now. It's stupid. They agreed I can get it off mobiles.co.uk for FREE.

Was this via upgrades/retentions or sales?
I called sales and was offered it for free...

just rang Orange. They want me to pay £391 for the handset.

I'm not doing that LOL.

Yeah the Arena seems a naff phone tbo.

Sorry m8..you're saying that you rang up 'sales direct' and did the upgrade via retentions through 'sales direct'? :)

sorry dude been a long day........

originally i wasnt doing an upgrade as they kept messing me around so i called sales as if i was a new customer and got offered the deal.

i then got a call back from retentions with "said" deal so cancelled the new connection.

make sense??? ha ha

Its on its way with postman pat...shall be in my hands tomorrow at some point....

what tariff you after?

well at least 900 mins across network calls maybe unlimited landlines but I definitely need the 500mb data allowance. I think racoon was the one that seemed to fulfill my needs.

I want to try it for 7 days and then decide. :p

Let us know what you think of the phone and do a review m8 - me for one wants to see it:D

It's a very nice phone, however I don't have any other high end phones to compare it with so it's hard for me to say just how nice.

The important bits to me (media playback and camera) are excellent, the screen is just as, if not more responsive than the iPod Touch and amazing quality compared to the Touch/other mobiles I have used.

Bad news, they haven't fixed the audio issue when recording video however I had anticipated this and I'm quite willing to wait for a firmware update.

Interface is great, the double tap thing that was mentioned can be a little tedious but I am sure I will get used to it, very responsive and easy to use though. Web browser works nicely using my Wi-Fi, having flash is a big bonus.

Edit: Boring sample photo:

I get the feeling that this thread will get even more coverage after Raikiri great photographs of the Omnia HD spread around the world.

Hurry up with mine mr delivery driver. :(

My only issue so far with this phone after a day is the Web browser, find it very cumbersome to use although maybe i just need some time to get used to it. Oh and whatever you do, don't let windows media player auto-sync when you hook it up to your PC it puts the music where the phone doesn't see it in the media player () much easier to manually add files using mass storage mode.
Other than that media wise it plays avi/divx etc no problems at all, sound quality is good on music playback it may be lacking a little oomph but then its a phone what do you expect. As expected the Video recording in HD looks great but sounds like an old Amiga voice synthesizer in places, but then again I didn't buy this phone as a camcorder so for me not a huge issue and it could be fixable with an update.

Considering the nokia N82 has amazing audio quality with its video, that the Samsung performs so poorly is a real dissappointment for me. With the ability to take 32GB cards, you would think that this is an area Samsung would not have skimped on. I mean ffs... what use is awesome HD video recording quality if the sound is pap?

This phone looks like pure mobile heaven (bar the minor audio playback that will hopefully be sorted with a firmware fix). I just have to wait patiently till it comes onto O2 via mobiles.co.uk simply because I have not been fully convinced by the tariffs that Orange offer, especially with the paltry 500mb data allowance.
