and
would I see the benefit of another 4Gb on my system?

cheers

Windows 7 is exellent, and if you are going to do it, you might as well go x64. You will use basically all of your 4gb in an x86 system using PAE right now, but if you ever get more, you're going to want x64. I have been using x64 based windows since Vista, and the transition is seamless, there really isnt much different that is noticable, but your machine will be running everything natively at 64bit as intended :)

deff a 64bit os.

ive got 8gb and it see's every last bit of my ram and my pc is pretty quick with 8gb as well.

Sorry to jump on your thread but just a quick question. Is the Windows 7 RC faster than the Windows 7 Beta?

I had the Windows 7 Beta on my laptop and it was kinda slow - just wondering if it's worth trying it on my Q6600 system.

Depending on the specs of your laptop, it will be kidna slow, but it's not more of a resource hog than vista. I havent noticed any difference in speed between the 2 betas and the RC, it's just stability and choppiness that has been ironed out.

thanks - what do you mean 'choppiness'?

In the betas, some of the apps within the Win7 OS werent 100%, so some of them would stall/take time to load/hang for a few seconds. All of that has gone now.
