Google Office - Zurich

Whilst I think that is an awesome office and got to be a great place to work (dont get me wrong its far better than anything else) it is designed and made that way to appear 'fun' but of course its so that they can keep their employees longer and have them give no excuse for missing work (Kids play area, pets allowed and all that). I'd think you have a very heavy work load and not really be able to enjoy all the perks.

Had a mate who worked at Google, she hated it in the end. She said at first it is great having like EVERYTHING you need on tap at work, but before you realise it you are spending more and more time at the office working because you don't need to go home and all your colleagues are there. Hours were long and if you worked out your hourly rate it was barely worth it.

Lets face it, anyone who doesn't feel like they need to leave the office doesn't have much of a life outside it anyway. And as for your colleagues all being there... yup, that's what happens in workplaces. :p

Did she work in the UK Google?

UK and Europe. I know what you mean about colleagues being there but in the google 'culture' it was kinda expected to take dinner with colleagues at work, work late etc etc.

Not the fab fun place to work that it looks by all accounts.

That looks like a fun place to work.

On the other hand, It's a bit too funky. I would probably end up with a headache at the end of the day because its so artificial and colourful. Can't tell much about what its actually like to work there from the pictures either.

Lol, Def agree with the Hank Scorpio workplace similarities.

I've heard similar as well, the whole place is engineered to keep you there working, it's a very clever idea.

Reminds me of a Hank Scorpio workplace for some reason

Hank Scorpio: Uh, hi, Homer. What can I do for you?

Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Homer, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third.

Homer: Uh-huh.

Hank Scorpio: There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There.

Homer: Mm-Hmm.

Hank Scorpio: That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third.

Homer: Oh, the hammock district!

Hank Scorpio: That's right.

Is it just me that likes the idea of working long hours in this environment? If I've got all the facilities on tap and I work doing something I really enjoy, I wouldn't want to leave the office - as sad as that sounds.

Of course, weekends would still be needed for a few pints and a relax at home :)
