To most of us, UFO’s solving our energy problem will sound, at best, like wishful thinking, and most likely will be dismissed as insane.

But if energy lobbyist Stephen Bassett has his way, President Barack Obama will release information that the government is secretly hiding on “extraterrestrial vehicles” –according to Mr. Bassett’s claims– which can be used to solve the nation’s energy problem and limit climate change in one fell swoop.

The power source, he said, chronicled in a report Greenwire did on the subject, behind a flying saucer the weight of a tractor-trailer which hurtles through galaxies at 20,000 miles per hour is astronomical.

“What is the energy system operating that craft?” Bassett said. “They’re not burning kerosene. It eliminates oil. It eliminates coal. If it’s as good as we think it is, it transforms everything.”

One of the newest energy lobbyists claims he has the answer to climate change: spaceships.

The government has in its possession "extraterrestrial vehicles," lobbyist Stephen Bassett said. As in flying saucers.

Imagine the power source, he said, behind a 30-foot wide saucer that weighs the same as a tractor-trailer yet hurtles through galaxies at 20,000 miles per hour.

"What is the energy system operating that craft?" Bassett said. "They're not burning kerosene."

He added, "It eliminates oil. It eliminates coal. If it's as good as we think it is, it transforms everything."

No more ozone hole or melting polar ice caps, Bassett said. And the price of electricity would drop to almost nothing.

Bassett believes this. Fervently.

He is working for free as a lobbyist, representing the Hawaii-based Exopolitics Institute, an educational organization which describes itself as "dedicated to studying the key actors, institutions and political processes associated with extraterrestrial life." Bassett said he is less lobbyist and more political activist.

So what do you guys think? Do you think UFO's hold the key? Do they hold the secret?

Also it will be interesting if Bassett wins the lobbying and Obama is forced to reveal "any" information they have.
 
More tosh. Of course UFO's don't hold the key. They have not been proven to exist. Even if they did exist the chances are, they are so advance and the computer languages/control system so different to our own. It would be stupidly hard to back engineer.

But most of all we haven't got any.

and 20,00mph who wrote this. That would take thousands (millions?) of years to travel between worlds.
 
20,000 MPH and weighing as much as a tractor? That's really not very impressive in space, where the weight is irrelevent.

Saw James May on TV looking at somebody's kites - they have the intention of drawing wind energy from the jet stream and turning it into electricity. Maybe that's what Bassett saw?

20,000mph, are seriously telling me you don't see how pathetic some of the crap you post actually is? 20,000mph in Galactic terms would be like a disabled snail trying to circumvent the Earth.
 
The shuttle has travelled at near 20,000 miles per hour so this flying saucer doesn't sound that advanced... :o

Yeah, that'd do it. And at 20,000mph, it's... well... it's slower than the shuttle, but never mind.

I'm so glad people are finally coming up with sensible, practical solutions.
 
If something like this stimulate the thought processes in a person to come to some ideas regarding new energy, then so be it :)
 
Actually, it's been scientifically proven that time travel holds the key to our current and future energy crisis. There's even a simple 5 step plan:

  1. Build time machine
  2. Go back in time 1,000,000 years
  3. Plant loads of trees
  4. Return to Future [edit: I meant present, this time travel lark is confusing]
  5. Harvest coal from decayed plant life

It's quite simple really and none of this silly faffing around with alien spacecraft that clearly won't work in the first place anyways.

Why do people always feel the need to look to the skies for answers to their problems? We have hands, we have eyes, and we have a brain - that's your answer right there.
