Just looked up the price of my Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens its gone up! £700!

I know its a good lens but expensive or what!

I got mines off of ebay unused from japan for £300 n i thought that was expensive.

I best keep more care of it! Not so much trekkin it around in any old bag! Gonna get myself a proper case for it!

No one believes how wide angle this thing is until i show them. So awesome for what i use it for :D

where are you getting £700 from? jessops?

according to a camera price comperison website(can I link or is it against the forum rules, its not a compatitor just a site that shows where you can get it and how much) lowest is £575(tho I've seen it for £555 inc delivery).

any chance you could mention which seller had it for £300? :)

As I recall the 10-20 EF-S was RRPing around £620 at the start of the year, so it's not a massive hike given the global increases lenses have seen recently.
That said, it's not worth £700. You can pick up a 17-40L for £50 less, and as a like-for-like replacement the Sigma 10-20mm is readily available for under £400 new - easily the best bang-for-buck wide angle right now.

Yeah it was jessops, still £550+ i bought this more than a year and a half ago, was just checking to see if the prices were gonna be lower than what i paid, but certainly not!

My lens is a bit underused I guess, summer i'll be going on a holiday so im sure i'll find some nice architecture to take :]

No idea the ebay seller, really can't remember, she was selling heaps of stuff on the cheap.

looking at the comparison website I mentioned, the lowest price was at just under £400(£385) just 7months back(these days its around the £400 mark used).

Yeh i'm looking for a canon 10-22mm at the moment for summer use. Been looking for second hand and they seem to go for around £400 in mint cond.

Did consider the sigma but I prefur canon lenses and they hold their value better.

Picked up my 10-22mm used but mint for £350 last month - total bargain!

Know what you mean about prices though - paid £500 for my 70-200 18 months ago and they're over £900 now!

where from and how much? :)

the bay, £430 2 months old, mint condition with official canon hood.

Yeah I got my 70-200mm f2.8 at the right time aswell. Paid £1200 for it and a few weeks after it shot up to around £1800!

Is that the IS version? Because the f/2.8 IS has never reached £1800. At the most it was £1580 and the non IS version currently goes for under £1000.

I can get hold of a new 10-22mm for around £540 new as I work for a high street catalogue shop, is this a good price or can I get it cheaper elsewhere?

cheapest I've seen online(not inc the bay) is £533(with free delivery, 3-10 working days tho. pay extra to get 1-2 working days), so considering that no not a bad price.

is it that shop behining with the letter A? :)
if so the normal price is £616 if I recall correctly

Just get second hand, save a fortune! I saved over £1000 on lenses this year alone buying them second hand in mint condition fully boxed etc. sometimes with accessories thrown in (hoods and filters)! 90% of people who own this quality of kit look after it very well and I've never seem any evidence to the contrary.

Yea it is, I find their prices for lens much cheaper than Jessops and I get staff discount. If only we sell the 17-55mm f/2.8, I'd buy it right now :).

Ive been looking for a 2nd hand 10-22mm on the bay and theres not really much available and those that are arent really much cheaper than the brand new price I can get it for.

Are you looking carefully? I am watching 5 at the moment all whose price is under £400... Look at auctions only.

They pretty much all tend to finish around the £450 mark though, save for the utter loon who sold one on there last week for £275 buy-it-now! Someone got the bargain of the century.
