Best way/place to invest 15k? - no risk

You don't say what period of time you wish to invest it over but to start with, put £3,600 (current annual limit) into a 2009/2010 ISA savings account for tax-free interest.

I opened ISAs with abbey a week or so ago. I got 5.5 on the cash ISA through match funding with an investment ISA (which obviously has risk associated with it). It's 3.5 percent for Cash ISA without the match funding. ISA would be a good way of using up about half of your money (i think the allowance is £7,400 annually if you do both)

You could go with a savings bond for the rest but it wouldn't pay too much at the moment. how long can you tie money up for?

How about the Guaranteed Bonds - aren't they 0 risk as well (obviously no access to your money for that period of time though if you want to have a higher rate).

What you investing for?
How Long you investing for?
Access needed or not?
Can you tie the money up?

All depends on what you want to do with the money.

Personally I would speak to an IFA (even though I am qualified myself) they will be able to assess your attitude to risk, find out your objectives etc and be able to give you a good idea on how to invest.

What is the risk involved with putting the money into a bank which has FSA protection?

War - entire government and all authorities within being dissolved.
Or anarchy (with the same effect).

Granted, it's a very small risk, but still there ;)

Anyway, the FSA aren't obliged to bail out their banks are they?

Seriously, if you have £15k to spare and you don't already know the best way to invest it you should seek professional help.
