OK. So i'm buying a low-mid range computer, about £700 for components. Do you think it's worth me buying the Raven RV01? I love it, everything about it, but do you think i should pay the equivalent of a quarter of my components on a case? If not, suggestions please?

Depends, if you like the case enough there is nothing stopping you use the case for your next build, or the one after etc. So, putting it in those terms it wouldn't be a quarter of your component cost - just an investment for your PCs of the future.

Yeah I normally wouldnt recomend spending such a large chunk on the case,as it would mean scrimping in other areas, but so long as you can still get reasonable specs for PC to do what you require then EyeSeven's argument holds, however if it means you getting a PC that doesnt perform well enough I'd have to say to ditch it for something cheaper like the antec300 (what Id recomend for that budget)
The fortress is a good case but is more than the Raven so its recomendation is not helpful for this discussion

The Raven's supposed to be a poor case....bad cooling, difficult to build inside and poor cable management.

The Fortress is actually a little bit less than the Raven.

my bad, dint realise quite how much the raven was, thats shocking, youre paying for pimp appeal, as b4 imo for that budget an antec300 is right, not as pimped up as the raven but you have more budget to get better components inside

You are all so boring wanting people to get the same case as you, be different get a raven and i bet it would give so much more of a wow factor.

not being boring just being helpful in advising the guy into getting the best for his money.

and for me a wow factor isn't something that looks like it's been chucked through Halford front window with chavy bits stuck to it

It's not about fanboy-ism, it's about the fact that people buy a case for a reason. I bought mine as I think it has the best cooling in the budget section, so if someone wants a budget case with good cooling, I'd recommend it. If they wanted something super-quiet, not a chance. If they wanted something easy to build in I'd probably recommend elsewhere too.

The Raven is very expensive for what it is, so unless you're a particular fan of the looks you can get the same features elsewhere for less.

Personally i think it looks elegant, i would swap it for my p182 any day, it's a shame i don't have a job(too young) or i would have one!
EDIT: i would be prond to be called a Silverstone raven fanboy:p
