The all encompassing BNP thread - keep all crap in here.

ah so the bnp use an image of a polish fighter who came here to fight fascism..now used by fascists to try to get rid of poles

oh the ironing

"No one with links to a terrorist organisation that refuses to lay down its arms should be allowed to enter government."

Right. :D

it wont be a problem when we all get our assault rifles anyway....

Not to mention 58% of all new doctors, 40% of new dentists and 16% of new nurses are from ethnic minorities...

The BNP are, on the whole, eejits; on that I think most agree. However, in this instance does 'ethnic minority' mean not white, or does it mean foreign? Since in the UK medical school and dental school are so 'highly competitive' and only x% of candidates manage to get jobs etc, why IS this so?

Why not recruit 100% of new doctors, dentists and nurses from British sources as far as absolutely possible? I'm sure there will still be plenty of jobs, circumstances/shifts and whatnot to necessitate a foreign (not just 'ethnic') influx but surely better to bolster the progression of those who have worked hard in education and paying their taxes as natives to this country where possible?

Obviously I'm not saying we should be giving people with Third class degrees and shaky hands a job over a qualified and experienced foreigner. That said, when push comes to shove and there are so many British medical graduates, why is it so hard for me to see a doctor who speaks decent English?

I think for every white British (or even apparently 'ethnic' British) doctor I've seen at a hospital, I've seen at least four or five distinctly foreign (i.e. bad English) ones. Surely this isn't right? Maybe I'm just being naive?

I lol'd when members details were stolen and put up on the internetz. They cried.

Had a gander through the list, turns out a bloke a couple of doors away is a member. Not really surprising to look at him though.

IIRC in the BNP context 'ethnic' means not white. You could be second or third generation, it matters not.

Yeah, you're being niave.

Also I don't understand the paying tax thing. Surely most graduates have only paid a little, if any taxes? And once they get the job, the foreign doctors or whoever will paying a hell of a lot more to contribute to society. Null point.

**** the BNP :).

That's honestly the most constructive thing I have to say, bunch of ****ing morons. I've never met a single BNP sympathiser who's had anything to say that's been worth listening to. I have no time for them.

Well as I said, I was just wondering, not ranting or anything. :) So where DO all those UK medical and dental graduates go every year? They certainly don't seem to be appearing in a hospital or surgery anywhere near me! :D

Would it surprise you if most of the UK medical and dental graduates were foreign to begin with?

I don't care how many generations you've been here, you're still going back. Oh wait a minute, so am I :(

Had that argument with one of the send 'em back fellows a while back. Did ask him where someone who was born here from parents who were born here was going to be sent back to...he didn't care, as long as "they went back from where they came from"...

Yeah, you're being niave.

I don't think he's being naive, as being able to communicate clearly with your doctor is extremely important.

When they say "ethnic minorities" it usually means people who are British citizens, but usually not white. So Med/dentist schools take a lot of non-white students who are English. It is particularly popular with Asians because of the work ethic that is often seen as well as it being almost a "tradition" for Asians to be doctors/dentists/accountants.

Many of the non-white students going through Med/dentists schools speak very good English, mainly because they are 2nd/3rd Generation and have been born and lived in England.

EDIT: and when you say you've seen 4/5 "bad english" doctors, do you mean that they speak with an accent? Or literally can't understand you. Because my experience is one of either an indian accent or local accent.

It is impossible to have trained in this country for close to 8 years and not speak fluent English to people. It is impossible to understand medical lectures enough such that you can pass written, spoken and practical medical exams without speaking and understanding fluent English.
