I've just been out and purchased a Blackberry 8900. I've heard and read many good things about the RIM OS, and it was a toss up between a Blackberry and the Nokia N71.

Apart from Facebook, does anyone have any suggestions for suitable applications to download for it. In particular, are there many decent 3rd party web browsers available for it?

Where is a good place to start in learning about my new Blackberry, and reading about the applications available for it?

Cheers

Check the link in my sig for all things BB..as for 3rd party browsers??..theres opera mini and anothe called Bolt which is supposedly good but ive not tried them as i find the standard browser pretty good for most of my internet browsing. Skyfire at the moment in beta so hopefully should see a browser from them on the BB's OS....thats the one im looking forward to.

But click on the link in my sig and enjoy...join up to the forums as well as theres a wealth of info, tips and tricks on how to get the best out of your BB.

oh gawd that facebook app for the bb is awful! agree with Spawn, Cb has lots of apps, buy like the BB offcial app store, most good ones have to pay for :-/

Its ok for me, i find it does what i want it to do...its missing the chat feature but then ive never really used that part even on the full website.

a lot of apps arent free sadly but then i havent got an issue paying for them...its not like they are bank breakers or anything.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just been using it hooked up to my wireless network at home. Very impressed so far. I'm going to get Orange Maps downloaded onto it tomorrow.

Is the Sat Nav functionality good enough for me to use it instead of my TomTom, or is the TomTom much better.

I'd also like to be able to use the inbuilt GPS to measure my speed, (I commute to work by train and am intrigued to know the speed at which I'm travelling).

Cheers
