Night out on London

You have to plan which night you go where, find out when there's a cheap/student night on and get in on that, sometimes buying tickets in advance.

I go to pacha by Victoria some Tuesdays, is usually pretty good.
Or Oceana in Kingston (near me) on a Monday/Wednesday.

Cheers for the comments so far but as I mentioned in the original post I'm looking to go to a Rock night of some kind. I'm not exactly going to go to a club/bar that requires me to dress smart :P

My missus lives in Westminster so we've been on some pretty posh nights out. Though most of the time it's just some rich kid upstart throwing his daddys money about like he owns the place. Oddly enough the best night i've ever had in London was at a place called Cheapskates, on a wednesday night. Walked in to a dance remix of MGMT's kids and that pretty much set the tone for the whole night. 80p mixers? Oh we were GONE! hah.

London is good if you go to the right places on the right nights...

Off hand I can't think of any big rock nights on these days though.

Whoever thinks london is not a good night out is an idiot, regardless of what you are in to.
It has every possible night you can think of, catering to all tastes (its not just about stuck up rich ppl at all, although admittedly you do get it), if you think that you have gone to the wrong place.
The night for you will depend on the night of the week you come. Anyway in London is easy to get to from Euston so I wouldnt limit yourself to there as there is not much to do around there.

Roadhouse in covent is a great night, live band performing on stage most if not every night and repeated happy hours through the evening. Relaxed atmosphere and dress code as well although might have to wear shoes at the weekend (thats standard tho everywhere in london bar maybe shoreditch).
You will also have numerous bars in covent/leicester sq to go before hand (cheap ones like walky and spoons as well).

Electric ballroom on a Firday night in camden, fiver get in if you have a student i.d., pretty good. the world's end pub is pretty epic tbf aswell. your kinda scene if you all "rock". :)

Places not too far from Kings Cross that are rock/metal-y.

Eletric ballroom on friday in Camden, think its called Sin City
Intrepid Fox near Tottenham Court Road
Garlic and shots near Tottenham Court Road (though never been there myself)

There's a pub called The Ship in wardour st which usually plays a fair bit of rock/metal too.

I still say the blues bar.
Its electric blues, not rock... but it's just amazing there.
One of the best venues in London.

Yeah it's a really cool little bar - you have to get there early though if you want somewhere to sit :p

Koko might be another shout in Camden worth checking out. Quite expensive as rock-y clubs go though.

Fabric, The End, Koko if you want bigger, dirtier clubs. If you want a good selection of bars and smaller clubs I'd go for Covent Garden, Soho etc.

If you dont know London too well I wouldnt get too ambitious with traveling around too muh, as you're liable to spend most of the night wondering around drunkenly lost.. Just find an area and stick to it.

Can anyone tell me any decent rock bars within brief (like 5 -10 minutes) walking distance of Leicester Square?

Considering my previous post, they can NOT be in Soho.
