I'm trying to decide what my next free mobile upgrade is going to be but am stuck choosing between the Samsung pixon m8800 and the Blackberry Bold.

I like the fact the M8800 has an 8mp camera compared to the Bolds measley 2mp but am not keen on the touch screen interface and large size.

The bold looks gorgeous , has a qwerty keypad and a slick looking screen but the camera seems to let it down.

Any of you guys got these phones ? what are your opinions , pro's and con's ?

Cheers

Not that it really helps you, but I was looking at the Pixon the other day and thinking it might be good. I'm deffo going to step away from Sony Ericsson next upgrade time.

Size? It's smaller than the bold.
Right you are , it's more the screen size that bothers me. I dont have a great track record with large screen phones. I tend to accidentally put my keys in the same pocket and crack them after a week

Im also concerned that a touch screen by nature is going to get worn and scratched very quickly if you are constantly mauling it for every feature.

Im moving away from Nokia. Im bored of the same old interfaces on every phone and the slow menu response. The supposed 3.2mp camera on my current 6500 slide is awful too and takes a much worse picture than my old D900.

Lol, at least the vast majority of their handsets work well and after a long time. The latest models from S.E. are riddled by poor design. :(

I've just seen some absolutley cracking deals for that Samsung. ~£20/month for Pixon for free, 9999 texts 600 minutes and a free Sony DAB digital Radio. Orange I think.

I've had a Pixon for quite a while now, overall very happy with it.

Only minor niggles are:
The camera is good in day light, but not all that in low light. I think it might be the LED flash, my friends 8mp sony erricson with xeon flash is better at night.

Also, when plugging into a PC as mass storage device, I only seem to see the SD memory, so if I want to transfer stuff, it has to be on the card - but maybe im doing something wrong.

Looks and feel wise, I cant fault it, I would reccomend it overall.

The Bold has superb quality screen, best I`ve seen, camera is very poor so if u need a decent camera this is an issue. For me the QWERTY keypad has been a revelation and would rate this as the best feature, email implementation is very good too but I guess u knew that.

I've had a Pixon since december and overall i've been very happy with it. The camera is great! Touchscreen very responsive etc.. The only moan i have about the phone is its not very customizable at all. You can't even change the screensaver which is annoying! I'd say avoid the pixon if you are wanting to be installing lots of apps/games but if you aren't too fussed about those and just want a decent phone/camera/music player then i definitly recommend it.

id get a bold over a pixon, and a blackberry curve 8900 over a bold! - better screen, twice the memory, slightly smaller, better camera with autofocus {though still rubbish} ect

If you can live without 3G then get the 8900 curve but if you cant then its a dead giveaway...get the Bold...its probably the best phone ive ever used in my entire mobile phone life and thats saying something...altho my current fave is my HTC Magic which is keeping me entertained at the moment.

But smartphone wise you wont go far wrong with the Bold...a lot of people have it and have sung its praises. If you want some more opinions on the Bold then head over to www.crackberry.com and have a look in the Bold part of the forum...like most electronic stuff you will get the odd one that has issues but ive had mine since last dec and its been good as gold...does what it does best...push email and the fact it has a full QWERTY keyboard means i dont need to be sat in front of a pc or my laptop...i can easily fire off emails, texts etc pretty easily. The only thing i dont like about it is the shoddy camera but then in the right conditions its not too bad ie lots of light and it takes some pretty decent pics like the iphone i guess.

Get one and you wont be regretting it...its definitely a better option that the pixon.
