I know about all these comparison websites but I hear that if you go direct it can sometimes be cheaper. I'm just wondering if anybody knew any specialist insurance companies that deal with imports/modified cars. The car is mainly an import, the only thing modified is suspension as it is standard apart from that.

Thanks

Cheapest are Adrian Flux, fact.
Not the sort of company you insure Prestige marks with for sure but if you are looking to get on the road for as cheap as poss then Flux is the man.

Well no, the cheapest depends on a huge number of variables which mean the cheapest is a pretty personal thing - whats cheapest for one person might be the most expensive for another. There is no one company fits all thing, you really do have to shop around.

Flux wanted £1300 for me, Elephant quoted £486 for example.

Flux is often cheap for modified vehicles. Not sure if suspension would be enough, as flux aren't very competitive on standard cars. And insurance quotes have been more expensive for me direct compared to comparison sites.

Not for me, they came back with a quote £500 more than my cheapest, this is on an import MX-5.

I was struggling to get quotes below £1500 until i stumbled across the money saving expert guide.

My cheapest quote was at the end was £1450 :/ not mind blowing but £50 is £50.

I think I'll give Flux a call, they seem to be the most able to help. If not I might give Elephant a call.
