Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

when using virtual xp,do you need its own antivirus or is it still protected by whatever you have installed on windows 7 ?

Nope you will still need AV, you have to treat it as a separate system. Having said that, if you don't actually browse the web or anything like that and only use it for running XP stuff, then you might be able to get away with it.

Just installed it and have to say, it is better than vista 64. A lot more responsive and the programmes installed faster.
Only draw back is my cannon MP600R's network software does not work. Any one usingt this printer succcesful via LAN?

Well I've used windows 7 on my HTPC for about 2 weeks now. I just can't believe how easy it was to set up. Installed the OS, AV, Power DVD 7 Ultra, Ati & TV card drivers & everything works. (Unlike vista which was a PAIN)

Will be buying this when the time comes.

Just got a Bad Pool Caller 0x000000C2 BSOD in 7 :(

I feel it might be down to RAM issues though, I'm running PC2700 at PC3200 and even though it's passing memtest it might still have caused it.

I just had an emil saying the trial version expires on august 1st 2009 and from the 1st june 2009, the pc running it will shut down every 2 hours.

I thought this didnt expire till next year?

anyone else think the control panel is too confusing now?? I always look at classic view and now there are 54 icons! and only 2 of them are extras (vaio and bluetooth).

Use the default view, not that classic rubbish - problem solved. Or simply use search in the panel window, a lot faster.

Those that are running tv cards, what software are you using with them? Also are you using an internal or external aerial?
I'm using a Pinnacle 7010iX, with the x64 drivers from MS Update - these seem to work OK, unlike the previous Vista x64 drivers from MS (I had to use the BlackGold drivers instead).

Using Windows Media Center, a nice improvement on previous versions, and works well enough if you ignore the rather pretentious fanfare when it starts up. I have an external Freeview aerial, no problems in spite of mediocre signal strength (took ages to find all the channels though). :)

Not a card as such as it's external but 7 installed the drivers automatically for my winfast palmtop DTV200H. Using Winfasts own PVR software which installed and runs without a hitch, even the gadget works. Using an external aerial (I'm connected to the RF out on the sky box)

Did they issue new keys with the RC7100 download, as ive checked the keys i have say they are windows 7 beta keys although it worked and activated fine with RC7100?

EDIT : Looks like i entered the wrong key at the end of setup. I now have a RC key, is there a way to change it from windows or will i have to reinstall?
