Ive been watching development of this for over a year and does look good
although if you loved the original RF you might be disapointed in that its 3rd person only AFAIK :(

It is, I think. I played the Xbox demo and while the controls do work and the third person view isn't bad, I'm still disappointed it isn't first person. :(

It sounds like THQ want to port it to the PC properly, which should be a good thing.

Wasn't Saint's Row 2 delayed for the PC though and that didn't turn out to be as good as on console.

The first Red Faction was good, and RF:G is good on Xbox 360 but I think it's going to be a fail on PC.

:(

I should be getting this sometime today (Royal Mail strikes permitting that is!). It includes all current & future console DLC as well as the best graphics and runs best in DX10 mode apparently.

Meh it really could do with a no time limit version of the wreaking crew part. so you could carefully plan and have fun with various buildings.

Maybe even a map/building editor for custom fun.

Won't some sort of community mod the game to do that?

Installed it now. Uses a new DRM you have to enter your email address & LIVE access key before it will launch then once more ingame to access the GFWL interface then you link it to your gamertag and it allows installation on other PC's as long as you use your own gamertag you can roam with it as no activation limits.

Game looks pretty good on PC ingame gfx are very smooth @ 1920x1200 max everything DX10 mode. Very multiplatform 3rd person game design though but at least it includes all console DLC free of charge including the unreleased DLC they get next month. Needs a meaty CPU as a lot of physics going on in the explosions but FPS is still very smooth. Only glitch is that they have disabled vsync so you need to force it in D3D Overrider or Nhancer.

If I cba later I may do some screenies as the level of destruction is glorious :D

The performance is smooth but with FSAA it drops heavily, the gfx are very nice though but the vehicle control and character movement physics leaves a lot to be desired - vehicles for example do not drive like Crysis for example but more like a loaf of bread.

I didn't think much of the AI as well who would just stand there in the distance leaving you to grenade them from afar or zoom + shoot or blow **** up near them

Worth a bargain bin price but not full retail price at all.
