Hi

My PC has stopped working. If i power on theres lights on the mobo and fans wirring but no boot - not even bios is showing up.

I don't know if its connected but but i was vacuuming the room and the case looked dusty (i think the PC was on) so i vacuumed the outside of part of the case - is this likely to have buggered something up? Could be static electricity causing this and if so whats it likely to have 'blown'?

Any advice much appreciated

many thanks

Take case off and make sure everythings still plugged in.

if you can connect a speaker to the mobo this might tell you what is wrong. Although most cases don't come with an internal speaker anymore.

Hi

Have tried swopping out the ram and a different monitor.

BUT then i tried the graphics card and put in an old PCIe6600 instead of my Geforce GTX260 MaxCore and it booted just fine.

gonna try it in another PC (if it will fit - the damm thinnng is huge)

i vacuumed the inside of mine today and no damage done so probably not that
Dont do it again. The static may damage the components. Also you may have damaged it as some static damage builds up over time so it is not immediatly apparent. As an alternative use compressed air.

thanks ross

but wasn't doing the inside - was just passing the PC and passed the vacuum over the top and one of the sides a couple of times

i've a feeling it (the graphics card) may have overheated and blown - it was getting quite hot in the room at the time - and aren't the BFG GTX260 Maxcore OC2 more rpone to this that non OC cards?
