Is this piece of software specifically engineered to be as infuriating as possible? I have an old version, and it tells me that I can't use it without updating it. So I download the humongous update, and when it tries to install, it tells me "computer says no". Fan-bleeding-tastic.

I'm downloading Pidgin now.

No problems with WLM here. Also, download the *.MSI rather than the download based installer. The MSI never fails to install.

Very true.

The download based installer failed every time for me in Vista, and now does the same in 7. So i just used the full install package, works perfectly. :)

Do they allow you to view contacts by e-mail address yet?

Have done for ages - Tools > Contacts > View contacts by > E-mail address

Not sure about the very latest versions, I have 8.5 as I didn't like the design of the later ones last time I checked, but it should still be there.

Is it just me or is it taking more to actually connect to WLM with the newer clients? I use what is essentially dialup at work and each new client they bring out takes longer and longer to sign in, with this latest one claiming it cant sign in at all three times before it'll actually do it.
