I was wandering the internet and found a news article the Google may buy a closing paper mill in Inverurie, Scotland. The international paper mill located in Inverurie 16 miles from Aberdeen may be purchased by internet giant Google for not so much office uses but to hold servers to support the Google infrastructure although Google has neither denied nor confirmed that it will purchase the paper mill site. This will be the first Google location in Scotland and probably not the last. I don’t mind if an internet giant moves in just down the road from me I must say it sounds kind of cool to have Google living next door to me just as long as thay don’t start taking pictures of me from the Google car and plain and put them in Google earth we should just get along fine.

Interesting... not sure how much fiber they have up there, but it looks like they have plenty of power what with it being an ex-factory.

Datacenters aren't exactly big employers though... even a large one will employ <20 people total.
 
interestingly google street view has what seems a disproportianate (for now) area around the north east mapped out. rest of the country = cities, northest scotland = lots of scenary ...

Hmm. Keep n eye on job postings..
 
I read about this a couple of weeks ago, they were saying how the cold air could help cut the air conditioning costs and they could pump the excess heat to the surrounding village or something like that.
 
An Irishman, American, and a Scotsman are in a bar.

Then the Scotsman says, You think thats great? Where I come from in Aberdeen, theres this place called MacDougals. At MacDougals, they buy you your first drink, they buy you your second drink, they buy you your third drink, and then, they take you in the back and get you laid!

Wow! say the other two. Thats fantastic! Did that actually happen to you?

No, replies the Scotsman, but it happened to me sister!
