TF2 Sniper Update

saw a soldier today with the new helmet, he has black elastic going around the helmet with an Ace card and a pack of tabs also on it.
Seems a rare find like. ;)
 
thats not fun :( ive had tf2 on for roughly 30 hours since the patch and i have gotten 15 unlocks. granted a few are repeats. wish the damn ambassador would drop though :( its the only one left for the spy and what i want.

wow, ok that's fine, valve just obviously hates me . . . that's ok . . . I don't mind . . . *sob sob*
 
the unfortunate draw back of a random system for every person that gets anything and everything, there will be someone who gets absolutely nothing
 
Rather then people complaining about too many spies or snipers, why not simply play on a decent server with class limits?
 
Anyone else think the cloak and dagger isnt that effective? Anytime ive shot a spy and the drop dead i just instantly know he's not dead and its that new unlock thats coming into play. Dunno why it is but there just seems to be something hokey about it. Only annoying thing about it is they seem to be able to reuse it when they reappear.

I think its more the fact that usually when facing a spy they will have full health, and hitting them witha pistol shot or at long range with a minigun its more suprising seeing them drop dead. Leading you to be on the alert for them to re-appear.

It usually gives the spy a second or two to get away before the person who has damaged them realises hes not really dead. Thinking back now Ive insta killed two or three spys today and they have instantly died... Damn they must have had that unlock.
 
I got owned by that unlock. :(

Had a nice little den going as an engineer and a spy came along, I killed him but didn't bother checking the top left to see if he actually died or not and about 3 seconds later I got backstabbed and my buildings sapped. :(

The sneaky thing about this unlock is that it actually does show you got a kill. Its pretty easy to spot though they normally drop dead right away.

Cloak and daggers the one which regenerates while standing still, you mean the dead ringer. I find it more useful for getting out of danger and crossing dangerous areas because you don't take full damage with it, for tricking enemies it's not really that useful because of the loud decloak sound and you'd have to take a fair bit of real damage before activating it for them to believe they really killed you.
 
The dead ringer is a bit hit or miss, ive used it a few of times, on a percentage rating its about 30-40% effective, good if your going around a corner or can get to cover quickly after 'dying' but not so effective if running across an open area as they tend to keep following and shooting.
 
I've been having an issue with TF2. Sometimes when joining a server my game freezes on the MOTD and the only way to cure it is to go in the task manager and kill TF2.
Anyone has any idea what this could cause that? I already upgraded IE to v8 and I'm not really sure what it could be otherwise.

ok 25 hours plus playing the game - no unlocks

joined that idle server (thanks anything-but :cool:) left it on overnight and had four unlocks this morning - including three bonk energy drinks.

Not only does the random system not seem to work properly but it is not truly random. 3 BONK energy drinks? that's not random. I keep hearing about people getting like three or four sandvichs. That's not really random.
 
On my 5th axetinguisher, got 3 backburners as well.

Got Razorback (Unless) & Huntsman (Got it about 3 seconds after joining a server for first time in about 3 months after update, love it, still over shadowed by Sniper Rifle on 70-80% of maps though) and Dead Ringer (Can't stand it, not how spy is meant to be played, needs cloak on demand)

Got Jarate, never play Sniper. Also got Ubersaw while I was actually playing Medic and had the Ubersaw out (no joke).

I'd kill someone for the Dead Ringer & to a lesser extent the Cloak & Dagger. Spy is my 3rd most played class :(
 
Cloak and Dagger is pretty nice, takes a bit getting used to as you don't need to run between covers or constantly running around disguised as the enemy, and can decloak at the perfect time without being seen beforehand....at all :)

Definitely promotes camping though since you can't recharge it with ammo anymore, but at least you can recharge standing in the open without being seen.
