Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

so to be sure i need to backup everything on the "my files" partition that i want to keep even though i am only going to format the "my programs" and "xp" paritions as there is a chance that as they are the same hard drive something could go wrong and mess up "my files" parition?

Always backup photos and music etc as once lost they may never be replaced and such things are priceless so even if u have to buy a portable harddrive for £50 to do it, it's a small price to pay to save ur memories!! I backed up everything to a separate HDD and (probably a bit too cautious) unplugged it during the install :p

yeah thats what i do when trying to fix other peoples pcs just to be sure so there is definitely no way a new installation or the problem can mess with the files.

i have put as many files as i can across to my laptop and the rest of the pictures on a dvd. the videos i have downloaded will have to fight for themselves as they are way too big.

installing now from a usb stick, seems to be working but so so so slow.

Can any of you remember what it is you have to change to get Windows Live to sign in?

Just reformatted to the newer release yesterday and installed messenger tonight but cant for the life of me remember how i fixed it on the previous install, pretty sure it was an ie setting that fixed it (wierd as that may sound).

Command prompt

Type netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

as i have 2 monitors i have decided to try the taskbar vertically making it in the "middle". only problem i have with it is i don't like everything being at the top e.g. programs and start button. any way i can spin it so it's the other way around?

QQ guys i've still got old build 7000 installed dual boot with my XP.

If I format the partition and install the RC version will my dual boot still be ok. I don't want and NDLR screen of death (like I've had with previous dual boots...)

You can now add anything to the Taskbar.
Icons slightly expand when you hover over them on
The “System” menu is more simplistic, and easier to navigate.
You can change the login screen picture through the “Personalization” menu
The menu/lists that pop up when you right click on things now have the Aero Glass effect
The default icons for Folders have changed to be the transparent blue ones featured a long time ago
The Minimize/Maximize/Exit buttons on the top-right of a window have changed icons,
and are a bit smaller than the Vista/7 counterparts.

[BIG ONE]: There’s an “Upload” feature for Pictures, files, and videos. If you right-click a file, and click
“Upload”, you can make it automatically upload to a website of your choice. After uploading, a pop-up will
appear saying it’s done, and clicking “OK” will cause the link/download link to the file to appear in the popup
ImageShack and Facebook, and they work.

I hope the link is ok mods?

I will be getting this build and update.

Sweet, some nice changes there :) is this build gonna be officially released though?

I have a change to suggest though - where so I submit this? When you single click on the network icon and it shows a brief summary, I would like it to display the network speed as well (there is a blank space on the right where they could put it). Would be very useful for quickly seeing how fast your wireless connection is for example.

Cheers,

Suman

Looks good although I will be annoyed if its released in the next week or so, I'm just about to install build 7127 and I've used my last blank DVD on it.
