Yep, though they'll know you have it when they check the machine logs.

You may get a letter asking for it back.
 
i had that happen to me once, asked for £20 which it gave out then as i was walking off another £20 come out. nothing was charged to me so it must have been a ATM error
 
Aren't they meant to sort themselves out when the requested/received logs don't match?

If it doesn't, then you've just got yourself £60. Go and buy some beer to celebrate :D
 
nobody will be the wiser spend it and say it only gave me 10 if they ask, machines make mistakes you know your word vs there's

I remember reading about a michine in scotland that was giving out £20 for every £10 asked for. Word spread quite quickly and the machine was soon empty by all the people using it. The bank made them all pay it back.

I would be going into the bank and letting them know.
 
I went to Halifax with a friend. He counted and put £170 in the automatic deposit machine. As we were walking out the receipt said he deposited £370. :D

He bought me lunch and a bottle of vodka for going to the bank with him. :)
 
Once an ATM short changed me and I had to go into the bank to fill out a form, they checked it against the machine logs and they refunded me.

So they're able to tell, I also have a friend who's an ATM Engineer so I'll ask him what happens in this scenario.

Recently I withdrew £20 from an ATM, the cash door opened, the rollers span, nothing came out.....

It took £20 off my account. 3 letters later and them "Checking logs" I still am £20 down. They claim that the money was dispensed.
