Anyone play Badminton?

I used to play a lot during school holidays when I was a kid as we used to spend the days with my grandparents while mum and dad where at work. My grandparents played 3 times a week with a bunch of oldies and my brother and I used to go along and play too.

Was amazing how fit this oldies were and also taught us a lot about the tactics of the game which meant that they didn't have to be running all over the place so much.

Have started playing with my girlfriend and a few friends once a week mainly to get some good exercise.

Annoyingly one of my friends has invited several people so we've now got 6 or us and one court.

I'm thinking we'll play short games so no one is sitting out for too long.

I play once a week against my cousin, we don't even score but have a good laugh. I've played a few times against much better players and held my own, would like to play against others because I really enjoy it.

We might look into a second court if everyone enjoys it, I was thinking of games up to 5 or 7 points so sitting out wouldn't be for too long.

Thing is one of the people has never played before and one of the people only really want to knock about which is going to prove difficult I think, much better to play games.

Used to play for my school in 6th form and I started at university but then rowing took over. Haven't played in years now, I probably wouldn't be able to hit the shuttle :o! I miss playing it, though, it's an excellent sport.

I've started playing again recently with some friends. It's great fun, we aren't very good and don't take it too seriously though.

I only manage to play badminton once a week now that i've started table tennis again.

Most of my shots are pretty strong apart from my backhand clear. Anything chest height or above is weak on my backhand and people that play against me regularly just wait at the net and smash. Not sure if my racket is helping as it's head heavy (Yonex MP99) but i know that my technique also needs improving. Any tips welcome :)

I used to love playing it, good sport and as hard as squash or tennis easily. Pity it doesn't have man points but then I couldn't really give a crap.

I'm sometimes tempted to play these days, there's nothing like going through a university gym and hitting my **** around for an hour or so.

Why clear when you can smash :p

I`m in the same position and my backhand clear isn't the best. If i`m really struggling to get there I`ll usually attempt (!) a backhand smash. When they connect well it can be a great shot, though the (or rather my) success rate isn't the best!

When there is enough time i will play a 'round the head' smash but it's when the shuttle is a little lower than that or has gone past my head that i need to clear. That's when i have problems!! My backhand smash is non-existent!

Loved playing Badminton, Used to play 2-3 times a week but since my wee boy has been born I've only managed about 10x in the last 2 years :(

Think I have a yonex armour something something

I used to play a lot when I was at home and through Uni. County at home in Ireland, and played in the British Unis singles and doubles a few times. The guys i played with at home are now national champions and one of the girls played in the Olympics so I would say I'm not bad ;)
