I would appreciate a lecture on the financial tolls and buyer thought processes of car ownership from you once you've actually got your own car :)

You play that card every time and every time I tell you it's irrelevant. I don't need to own a car to criticize, analyse or evaluate spending habits on cars. Please keep intellectual debate and petulant "I have a car but you don't so I'm ALWAYS right" comments separate because I'm pretty sure some of your posts are exactly that sentiment in disguise.

I don't play football Fox, does that mean I'm not allowed an opinion on the game when I'm down the pub? ;)

No, but it does mean any opinion you might have on the finer points of the difficulty or suchlike of particular techniques are pretty much irrelevent :)

If that were true I wouldn't be able to distinguish a technically-sound goal from the rest.

In case you haven't noticed not all pundits and television presenters actually played the sport they're evaluating.

The iPhone is an awful lot of money for what it is, but people still pay it because it's generally considered as something trendy and desirable. I'd also rather buy one brand new than one that's a year old and showing wear and tear. Cars are no different, albeit the financial toll is much greater.

Not being funny, but if a 1 year old car is showing significant signs of "wear and tear" I would move on to look at another example that was in A1 condition. A 1 year old car with low milage is hardly likely to be showing much more than a pair of scrubbed tyres :p

You don't get the new car smell though :D :p

Yes you do, when was the last time you drove a 9-12 month old car? Smells very much the same as a new one.

Rubbish. My parents have been buying cars brand new since I was born and the smell quickly dies out. Either that or you must have one hell of a sense of smell.

Apart from you.

I'm a 20 year old student mounting up over £6k of debt a year.

I'd be a complete and utter moron to buy and run a car unless, like a lot of other students, daddy paid for it. Even if I bought a clapped out banger I still wouldn't be seen dead giving an insurance company over a grand because other people my age destroy their cars on a regular basis.

I think most people in my position would be happy driving their parents' car(s) for free :)

Scott212, are you the new Motors troll?
Or just the next one who chases Fox around trying to "get one over him"?

I wouldn't call posting in a 'new mini' thread from someone that has a new mini on order 'trolling'.... More the other way around, what would you call someone that has no real interest in a thread, but insists on posting something that can only serve to create a negative reaction?

I dont mind him myself.. I don't agree with him on many many things, but this place wouldn't be the extreme that OC'ers is without him!

He may be knowledgeable about cars, far more than myself, but his attitude and aggression can sometimes be unnecessary. Fair enough?

Agressive? Come on.. I think the problem is usually that he posts sensible things that make sense, and a lot of people dont want to hear a sensible argument against their car choice :P They must know best!
