Looks to me like a potential NC20 beater, unless the Nvidia chipset sucks the juice.
It's certainly stretching the definition of a 'netbook' in terms of size and weight.

Does look good, but agree a 12 inch netbook is pretty much just a laptop :p

What defines it to be a netbook over a 12 inch laptop like a Lenovo X61s?

Chipset used, general specs, price?

Battery life. The CPU and chipset are all designed to run at lower power and thus make the batteries last longer. I daresay the S12 will also be thinner and lighter than a regular laptop.

See the lenovos we've got at work run for a decent amount of time but not quite 'netbook' proportions, but they are tiny :)

Conversly when people say "I'm not paying xxx for a netbook, may as well buy a proper laptop" I always feel like saying show me a small laptop (12inch and below) that costs near netbook prices, and has some considerable advantage.

I've always liked small laptops and in the past they've always tended to be the pretty much the most expensive.

So being able to get something as small as what you can get now, with the battery life they have, for the prices they are available for is great.

£300/400 for a netbook, or £1500 for a Lenovo x60 series machine :p
