**Breaking News - North Korea Nuclear Testing and military threats**

Imagine a stand off, America, England, Russia, China are all stood in a circle with guns pointed at each other.

"put down your weapon its illegal"
"you put yours down"
"not until you put yours down"

Then North Korea picks up a weapon.

"you can't join in"
"why not ?"
"because its illegal"
"... but your doing it"

*joins stand off*

America have **** all right to say what Korea can and can not do, The UN should put pressure on America, Russia, England to remove their nuclear weapons, but they seem okay with them breaking international law, however, North Korea aren't allowed to have them.

nations arent kids pointing bb guns at each other......terrible and far too simple an analogy.

It's kind of what is happening.

Nuclear weapons are illegal, no country wants more countries to have them, but at the same time won't give up what they have.

North Korea are entitled to nuclear weapons the same as America.

yes they are.

Doesnt mean that we should let them if we can stop them though.

Why dont someone just shoot the guy incharge of N Korea..
he sounds like a loon...

America's next target.....bring Democracy to North Korea......

Oh wait, they don't have any oil. Best not mention Vietnam either.

I do feel rather sympathetic for Japan though. They have a LOT to answer for from their behaviour during WWII, but as a nation I think that's something they are geniunely regretful for and that really haunts them.

Just seen on the news that NK have basically just sternly reiterated the fact that they are still technically at war with the South and that they no longer feel bound by the armistice they signed in 1953. They said if the South interferes with their shipping then it would be considered an act of aggression/war that would be responded to with a military strike.

This could get dirty...

Tummy, you say that you work in a school, so in that case would you allow a school yard bully to have a knife, because that's the scaled down equivalent of allowing DPRK to have nukes.

I don't agree with Tummy, but your analogy sucks! :p

It's more like letting the loner in the class who doesn't mix with anyone have a gun. If anything America would be the school bully and I bet the loner dreams of getting revenge on the bully.

I'm amazed people actualy think NK should be alowed to develop nuclear weapons.

The differance between say the UK, America, France etc and NK is that they are STABLE countries who have considerable power in the world, we have a stable (ok loose term) economy and a stable level of social well being.

NK on the other hand does not, they have an awesome political system, spend far too much money of millitary funding that they should be spending on fixing said system and improving public well being etc.

They just aren't RESPONSIBLE enough to have nukes, it's not about being fair to them, it's about being fair to the rest of the world.

If they were planning on improving there army for whatever other reason no one would have a massive problem, but Nuclear weapons are just that little bit more dangerouse than an army.

Yes, they have the right to develop whatever weapons they like, but when developing those weapon poses a threat to global security and the sa=fety of lets face it MILLIONS of people, then it is the responsibility of nations who are in a position of authority in the world to stop them.

***Breaking News*** N Korea threatens military action!

North Korea says it has abandoned the truce that ended the Korean war, amid rising tension in the region.

It blamed its decision on South Korea joining a US-led initiative to search ships for nuclear weapons.

It said the South's actions were a "declaration of war", and pledged to attack if its ships were stopped.

The move is part of an increasingly hard line being taken by North Korea, and comes two days after it conducted an underground nuclear test.
Meanwhile, South Korean news reports say that steam has been seen coming from a plant at the North's main nuclear facility, a sign that it has made good on its threat to restart efforts to make weapons-grade plutonium.

The United Nations Security Council is working on a strong resolution condemning North Korea's actions, including possible punitive measures.

SEOUL, May 27 (Yonhap) -- North Korea launched an additional short-range missile from its east coast Tuesday night, an official at the South Korean presidential office said Wednesday.

"The North appears to have launched a ground-to-ship missile into the East Sea shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday," the official said, asking not to be identified. Pyongyang had launched two short-range missiles from its east coast earlier Tuesday, following its supposed nuclear test the day before.

Ok now i agree military action is the only options left.

Let's just wait for barack to waggle his finger at NK.

"Bad NK! BAD!"

Then they'll throw some more missiles around.

I quite enjoy the fact that the US is completely powerless to do anything about the NK problem going all the way back to Eisenhower they have failed to come up with a viable solution.

You have a point but the fact is USA/Uk etc have got nuclear weapons but they are not a threat to anyone and we have had them for years. Now with North Korea, there is a good chance once they got a nuclear warhead it will be fired at a neighbouring country. They far to unstable and irratic to own one. Its like giving a crackhead a gun and saying dont shoot anyone.

Yes, because US led military interventions in other countries have such a massive history of recent success? Invading North Korea would be stupidity on a massive scale.

Oh and letting them nuke S Korea is such a great idea?

Before i thought they where just arming them selves to protect there country from American bullying, now its changed.
